Windows Mobile 6.1 in 10 seconds or less
Section: Communications, Smartphones, Mobile
Maybe it is me, but I just don’t get Microsoft sometimes. Ok, most of the time. Like this 6.1 update, it is jam packed with Zs. Here is it’s meager hit list:
- New Home Screen
- New Internet Explorer Mobile
- Little bit better messaging
That is it. Stop reading here. Snooze fest right? A new home screen? Most manufacturers have been adding home screens in, deeming MS’s entries too dull. This new one looks nice and 3D, but isn’t going to make anyone upgrade. There are tons of home screens you can download that rival this, and they are made by kids.
The Internet Explorer Mobile is a good upgrade, allowing you to pan around then zoom in. Still, for the bulk of smartphones running this, the screens are too small to be useful doing this. My Blackjack screen is all most too small to even see who is calling. Not Microsofts fault, but the bulk of these phones can’t give a good web experience.
Messaging, better is always good but it almost doesn’t deserve an announcement. Hopefully, CTIA will provide some phones where the update gets used. What do you think? Anyone rushing out for this upgrade?
