Viliv S7 UMPC: WiMAX, Atom, GPS and 7-inch convertible touchscreen
After the S5 MID we saw yesterday, Viliv were promising more big news from IDF 2008; it looks like they’ve delivered, with the S7 UMPC. Running a range of Atom CPUs, up to 1.8GHz, the S7 has a 7-inch SVGA touchscreen, GPS, internal WiMAX or HSDPA and an internal DMB TV tuner. It also has a full QWERTY keyboard and up to 9hrs battery life.

Under the compact hood lurks a choice of 30GB or 60GB hard-drives, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and WiFi b/g. The S7 measures 228 x 135 x 25 and weighs just 830g including the battery. OS will be a choice of XP or Vista, and there’s a small touchpad for mouse control just above the keyboard on the right-hand side.
Viliv are planning to release the S7 in Q1 2009. They’re still tweaking the design (although this casing is what you’ll see in the final product) but pricing and eventual availability is still unknown.
