Verizon’s Samsung Omnia is now $50 cheaper

Samsung Omnia is not widely available across the US (it will be starting December 8), yet Verizon Wireless has already decided to cut its price from $249.99 to $199.99 (a 2-yr contract agreement is obviously required).

Needless to say, this is good news for all those who have pondered on buying the Omnia but felt the $250 price tag is a little too high.

The handset’s no-contract price has remained the same, $439.99, so if you don’t need a new Verizon agreement but do want an Omnia, you’ll still have to pay quite a lot.

But hey, the Omnia is by no means an ordinary device, so I think many US customers will be quite happy with it, regardless of the way they choose to buy it.

With the new price, Samsung’s new handset might actually become a commercial hit and soon be out of stock – like Verizon’s HTC Touch Pro currently is, despite the fact that, with a 2-yr contract agreement, it’s sold for a steep $349.

Samsung Ego: Luxury phone with Dual-SIM support

Target Customers: Fashionistas.

We all know that Samsung’s previous forays into luxury phones weren’t much of a success, but they are now hoping to steal a bit of the show with the Samsung Ego S9402 luxury phone. Instead of going for some fancy design, they have selected the classical candybar form factor. The body of S9402 Samsung Ego phone is made of liquid metal composite alloy developed by Caltech. And yes, it’s a DuoS phone with space for two SIMs. The spec sheet looks quite decent, except for the fact that the phone doesn’t have 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS.

Technical Specifications: A 262K color QVGA AMOLED display, a 5 Mpix camera with autofocus and image stabilization, FM Radio, Built-in 1GB memory, microSDHC memory card slot (up to 8 GB), Bluetooth 2.0 and USB support.

Pricing & Availability: The Samsung Ego S9402 luxury phone will sell for around 1200 Euros (US $1500) when it’s available.
