After a successful stint with its 8GB microSDHC cards, SanDisk is looking to take it up another notch with its newly announced 12GB version, the highest ever for a cell phone as of now. Samples are being sent out as we speak to all major cell phone manufacturers for testing purposes.

The new 12GB card can hold up to 1500 songs, 3600 photos, and up to 24.5 hours of video. It adheres with the new SD 2.00 specification, a standard for any card with a capacity of above 4GB up to a maximum of 32GB. The 12GB card also meets the SD Speed Class 4 Rating.

Being a pioneer in flash storage cards, SanDisk has also taken up the initiative to educate people about mobile storage options with a “slot education” program called “Wake Up Your Phone.”
“Mobile phones have become a key part of consumers’ lifestyles around the globe,” said Jeff Kost, senior vice president and general manager of the Mobile Consumer Solutions division at SanDisk. “What many people tend to overlook is the important role that removable storage cards play in enabling the key features of these fully featured mobile phones. In fact, many people are not even aware that their phone has a card slot which is why SanDisk recently launched its Wake Up Your Phone(TM) campaign.”

There is no information on availability or pricing yet, but be sure that they will make it into your hands in no time.
