image

We have seen these models previously at CES and as a release in the Far East, but Samsung has now announced the HMX20C Progressive HD Flash-based camcorder and the You Tube-friendly MX20 for the European market.
The flash-based HMX20C offers full HD and a1080i mode with 30 frames-per-second recording capability. With an integrated docking station, the camera has HDMI input and USB connection.
The HMX20C has a 6.4-megapixel CMOS with electronic image stabilisation and can take still images up to 8-megapixels in size thanks to “pixel-rising” tech.
There’s the option to record fast motion at 300 frames per second for up to 10 seconds and a swivel hand grip to catch all that potential slow-mo action for playback on the 2.7-inch screen.
The device offers 8GB of built-in memory plus the option to expand via SD card slot, no availability or pricing for this model has yet been revealed.
The MX20 launches with the claim of the longest battery life in its class of up to 3 hours.
In a certain mode the compact camcorder will record in the H.264 codec - files that can be uploaded straight to You Tube with no need for transcoding.
Spec includes a Schneider lens with 34x optical zoom, Samsung’s Hyper Digital Image Stabilization, face detection tech and a 680K-pixel CCD sensor.
With a 2.7-inch screen and memory card slot supporting up to 32GB cards, the Samsung MX20, offered in black, white, red and blue will be available in September.
