QED announces uPlay discrete Hi-Fi Bluetooth receiver

HI_RES_FINAL_PUCK

UK-based QED announces their new puck-shaped QED uPlay device designed to wirelessly connect audio devices to home stereo systems via Bluetooth connectivity.

Pronounced “yoo-play” and featuring support for the proprietary apt-X codec, the new uPlay is ideally suited for home stereo systems, Hi-Fi systems, and even speaker docks with aux input. Simply pair your Bluetooth-enabled audio device with the uPlay and then wirelessly stream audio to your home stereo system.

uPlay automatically switches between the standard SBC codec used in the A2DP profile and the apt-X codec depending upon the transmission source.

No word on price as of yet but QED expects uPlay to be available in March of 2010.
