Palm unlocks Centro, offers free Google Maps for mobile with My Location

Arpita:

If you’ve been bowled by the Palm Centro, the smallest and lightest Palm smartphone based on the Palm OS, then here is some good news for you. Palm has announced that the unlocked Centro will be available for US customers online from palm.com for $299. This means that now you can have the carrier of your choice for your Centro instead of restricting to any of the three big names – AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless.

Palm has further announced availability of Google Maps for mobile with My Location free of cost for Palm Centro smartphone users that could be downloaded from google.com. Google Maps for mobile with My Location besides guiding the user on his route further gives information on the traffic condition in over 30 US cities and gives detailed instructions on routes to be taken to avoid traffic congestions. Google Maps also provide satellite and aerial views of locations and the touchscreen of the Centro makes it easy to scan these maps. With wider carrier choice and free navigational guidance, Centro will attract more customers to its fold.
