Lenovo netbook planned for September release

Lenovo_ultraportableLenovo are the next big computing manufacturer to plan a budget netbook, according to a report from DigiTimes.  Quoting Ken Wong, general manager of Lenovo Taiwan, the device being considered would be aimed at both consumer and enterprise markets, differentiating themselves from the existing netbooks on offer which generally target entry-level education or budget individual consumers.

Sources at notebook ODMs have put forward three possible hardware contenders for producing the netbook: Compal Electronics, Wistron and Pegatron Technology.  Each already manufactures Lenovo notebooks, with Wistron and Pegatron responsible for the X-series and IdeaPad ultraportable ranges respectively.

The same sources claim that Lenovo plans to have the netbook on the market by the end of September.  There is no suggestion of pricing or any hardware details.
