iRiver Story e-book reader to hit U.S. in Q1
Now here’s a gadget we’ll definitely be checking out at CES 2010. It’s the forthcoming iRiver Story e-reader device – expected to be available here in the U.S. during the first quarter of next year.
The unit (which was available for pre-order overseas with an initial stock of 2000 units sold out in two days) features a six inch E-Ink display, a thickness of only 0.36 inches and a QWERTY keyboard.
File format support appears to be extensive with iRiver claiming the Story supports e-Pub, PDF, PPT, DOC, and XLS office files. In addition to documents, the Story comes with a built-in MP3 player with support for MP3, WMA, and Audio Book files.
Other key features include voice recorder, personal organizer, 2GB of internal memory, USB 2.0 connectivity, headphones, and comics viewer. The battery life is expected to be around 100 hours long.
The company is currently lining up content providers in preparation for the launch of the Story. Pricing, details, and launch dates will be announced once the content providers are lined up. Certainly an exciting time for e-book readers out there!
