Yahoo adds ymail.com and rocketmail.com for new email addresses

ymail

I just wanted to remind all of you (in case you didn’t already know this) that Yahoo! is now making available two new email domains - ymail.com and rocketmail.com. Yahoo! Mail has been around for so long that there’s really no possible way for you to get the email address that you really want. Thus, Yahoo! is hoping to solve that problem with the addition of two new domains.

To sign up, just go to either ymail.com or rocketmail.com. They will both redirect to login.yahoo.com and you’ll be able to sign up for the new email addresses. Also note that ymail.com and rocketmail.com uses the same Yahoo! Mail user interface.

Yahoo says mobile search service reaches 600 million

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Internet media firm Yahoo Inc said on Tuesday that its mobile search service will be offered by six more telecom companies in Asia.

It now has 60 such partnerships worldwide, including with Mahanagar Telephon Nigam (MTNL) in India, Hong CSL Limited, Smart Communications and Digital Mobile Phlis (Sun Cellular) in the Philippines and Vibo Telecom in Taiwan. "We are now able to reach 600 million subscribers," David Ko, Asia managing director and vice president of Yahoo's mobile division, told reporters at a media briefing.

"This creates the scale to make mobile advertising attractive."

He said the mobile advertising market is expected to rise to $16.2 billion in 2011 up from $1.5 billion in 2006 and that Yahoo "would obviously love to take a large chunk of that pie".

Taiwan market: Yahoo! Kimo ties with Vibo in mobile keyword search

Vibo Telecom, one of five 3G mobile telecom carriers in Taiwan, on June 16 announced cooperation with Yahoo! Kimo (Yahoo! Taiwan) to launch a traditional Chinese-language version of Yahoo! oneSearch mobile keyword service for its subscribers. Vibo is Yahoo!'s second partner to offer Yahoo! oneSearch in Taiwan, according to industry sources.

Yahoo! Kimo cooperated with Taiwan Mobile (TWM) to launch Chinese-language Yahoo! oneSearch in Taiwan in October 2007, the sources indicated. Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) launched Google's Chinese-language mobile keyword search service in the first quarter of 2007 and Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) followed suit in the third quarter of that year, the sources pointed out. CHT, FET and TWM are the top three operators of mobile communication services in Taiwan, the sources noted.

Yahoo! Kimo may launch advertising service along with Yahoo! oneSearch in Taiwan in the third quarter of 2008, the sources pointed out.

Get MSN, AIM, Yahoo and GTalk on any phone for free with Heysan

Asmita:

Integrating the most popular IM clients into a single desktop application, Heysan is a brand new mobile site that lets you chat with your friends on MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo and GTalk through your mobile and that too for free. Of course telco data services apply, but the patent pending technology claims to work with any service provider and any phone model in any part of the world. Optimized for mobile browsing, the service allows messages to be pushed via SMS to your phone if you’re online, which is exactly what Yahoo and MSN are already offering as a paid service on various networks, but since Heysan is letting you IM for free, it might just be worth your while to give it a go!

Microsoft interested in Yahoo’s search business?

Microsoft still having troubles with launching Windows XP Service Pack 3Microsoft released a statement today that said it was “considering and has raised with Yahoo an alternative that would involve a transaction with Yahoo but not an acquisition of all of Yahoo.” Microsoft would not give details, but word is that sources at both companies agree that it involves Microsoft buying Yahoo’s search business as well as their ad business related to text-based ads. I hope Yahoo puts out soon, cuz I’m getting sick of hearing about it.

Yahoo Go! 3.0 beta for Windows Mobile

YahooGo!.jpg

In addition to warding off Microsoft's advances towards a takeover, Yahoo seems to have got some work done on its Yahoo Go! with several improvements over the previous version 2.0 for the Windows Mobile platform, which was disappointing to say the least.

The application's user interface has undergone a overhaul and there is now full support for widgets aimed at providing information on the go. There is now an integrated at-a-glance Yahoo screen and improved oneSearch feature along with a comely Web 2.0-like feel and navigation to the application. All the data is stored in a "cloud" for easy retrieval on any other web-enabled device and since this would mean heavy data transfers, it would help if you had an unlimited data plan.

Go ahead and snatch it here if you own a Windows Mobile-powered device. I have tested it on a HTC Touch and it doesn't seem that bad.
