santa bender and robot santa wish you happy holidays

Call me a dork, but Futurama has always been one of my favorite programs on the old idiot box - at least when it comes to animated programs. Now, just in time for the holidays, I’ve found the perfect decoration for my office.

Futurama Robo Santa and Santa Bender

Futurama Robo Santa and Santa Bender

Inspired by the classic Futurama Christmas episode, A Tale of Two Santas, the set includes 6-inch tall bendy desktop versions of Santa Bender and (the bloodthirsty) Robot Santa for you to pose into a variety of compromising positions.

Robot Santa and Santa Bender were actually released by Toynami as a limited edition release of just 2000 at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con, but you can still find them over on Amazon for $54.99 for the set.

My only question is, where is Robot Santa’s tommy gun?

old people racing: rude but fun

Here in the Philippines the elderly are respected and revered; these two toys are definitely not from the Philippines. First up are the wheelchair and racetrack bound racing grannies. Racing grannies. I can barely wrap my head around the concept.

Racing Grannies Slot Cars

The grannies can be individually controlled and are powered by AA batteries. The elliptical racetrack ensures that the race will go on even if the grannies forget where they’re going. Or what they’re supposed to be doing in the first place.  Stop it. Respect and revere. Of course if you have racing grannies, then speeding granddads can’t be far behind. Actually they might even overtake the grannies because they’re on mini scooters. Bitchin’.

Racing Granddads R/C Cars

Whereas other cars are equipped with nitrous oxide for speed boosts, the mini scooters are fitted with oxygen tanks. For life boosts.

Headphonies are cute 3 inch portable speakers

Headphonies are cute 3 inch portable speakersIf you need some friends for your desk to help you crank out the tunes, check these little guys out. These limited edition Headphonies are cute and eye-catching. The set includes 5 figures created by different artists and 2 blank versions that you can do up yourself any way you like.

You might expect that the sound wouldn’t be too good with such little speakers, but people who have heard them are saying that they are “surprisingly good.” Each vinyl speaker will be sold in 500 to 1000 limited quantities beginning on November 30th. Thankfully, they won’t break the bank at only $30 apiece

Huge spaceship built in Germany: Giant kid toy

Huge spaceship built in Germany: Giant kid toyBehold. This new 9,000-square-foot, 3-story spaceship is called “Second Solar” and it has just been constructed in the German city of Böblingen. It’s a real looker. It’s got “giant engines, a thermal shell to protect the crew and landing runners designed to cope with unknown surface conditions.” And it was designed for the children. It’s amazing what can happen when a nation that loves David Hasselhoff stops watching Knight Rider re-runs and thinks about the children.

It’s an interactive exhibit designed by Different Futures for the Sensapolis fun park. Inside you’ll find such things as a 3D theater, a lab, alien breeding ground, a medical center and a warp-core. Pay attention nations of the world. Especially you U.S.A. This is how you need to treat your kids. I propose we have one in each state. It’s too damn awesome for words.

slime meets aromatherapy, leaves gooey smelly mess

Remember that goopy green gunk you used to play with when you were a kid? No not your nose goblins. It was called Slime, and it was the number one gross-out toy back in the day. Now, some crazy Japanese guys have decided it was time to bring back Slime, but this time in scents that “appeal to adult sensibilities”.

Yep, you read that right. Slime is all grown up and now available in such olefactory delights as “Elegance”, “Hot”, “Relax” and “Love”.

Now I have no idea how Slime could be elegant, and I really, really don’t want to know what Love Slime smells like. And Hot Slime might have been better named Hot Mess.

If for some reason, your curiosity is truly piqued, you can get your hands on a can of the slimy stuff over at the Japan Trend Shop for the low, low price of $19 a can.

mac + magnadoodle = macnadoodle

What do you do when you drop your old laptop on the ground and break it? If you said “bring it to the Geek Squad” or “throw it in the dumpster”, you’re dead wrong. At least that’s the case if you’re the guy who took his recently trashed iBook G3, and turned it into a Magnadoodle (sorta).

MacNaDoodle Casemod

When modder leadoffdouble dropped his old iBook G3 on the floor and busted its CD-ROM drive, he decided to take his freshly squozen Apple and make himself some tangy Apple-ade.

MacNaDoodle Casemod

While he did manage to cram the iBook’s circuitry and LCD screen into the Magnadoodle’s case, there was no room for a keyboard or trackball, so an external one needs to be connected to actually use the computer. What this thing really needs is a touchscreen, which would eliminate the need for such pesky appendages. Plus, you could actually use it just like a Magnadoodle, complete with stylus.

MacNaDoodle Casemod

Wanna take a stab at building your own Macnadoodle? Head on over to MacMod and check out the full worklog.

Of course, if you don’t feel like busting your laptop open, you could just go for an Etch-a-Sketch laptop sleeve instead.

USB Volcano is useless, no sacrifices, no virgins

USB Volcano is useless, no sacrifices, no virginsWe’ve seen our share of useless gadgets, no question about it. They don’t get more useless then the USB volcano. I mean, they could have done something cool with this. How about a little diorama with some ancient civilization dropping a virgin or two into the thing? What about making it a real lava spewer(Okay, nothing harmful that will melt flesh) that’s also a bank, where you have to feed it coins so it doesn’t go all Krakatoa all over your desk? Or what about having a tiny remote control robot in the case with the volcano that you can send in and get readings like a real science kind of deal?

But no. No, sadly this craptastic gadget is just a volcano with plastic lava beads that erupt out of the water-filled desktop toy. And you even have to provide the water. $18 if you are actually impressed.

Feeding Nemo: Sega Toys’ handheld aquarium

Feeding Nemo: Sega Toys’ handheld aquariumThis device looks like a Wiimote and an iPod collided at seaworld. It’s a toy that’s similar to the Tamogotchi toys, but in this case it features a fish in an aquarium that is displayed on the screen. Your mission should you choose to accept it, is to take care of it so that it survives. Your fish grows, but so does the world around it, giving you some interesting game options.

You can play using a dolphin or an angelfish and it even has three mini games you can play with your digital pet. If you love virtual fish, this device is good for all ages and may even teach kids how to care for a fish, though I doubt it. Keeping a real fish swimming takes more then button pushing.
