Touch telephone: Talk on your iPod!

Did you ever know that you could use your iPod Touch as a telephone? That’s true, thanks to the free software at TruPhone. Your iPod will work as a normal telephone with the help of Apple’s Premium earphones with remote and mic. Well, you might say it’s an old thing as you have used the TruPhone’s magic earlier using a microphone adapter that hooks to the dock connector or a headset with built-in mic. But, the TruPhone’s app appears to be really exciting this time, with Apple’s new headsets. After installing this free software, you will be able to make free calls anywhere to other iPod Touch users, customers of Truphone’s Internet telephony service and users of Google Talk IM service.

Samsung Ego: Luxury phone with Dual-SIM support

Target Customers: Fashionistas.

We all know that Samsung’s previous forays into luxury phones weren’t much of a success, but they are now hoping to steal a bit of the show with the Samsung Ego S9402 luxury phone. Instead of going for some fancy design, they have selected the classical candybar form factor. The body of S9402 Samsung Ego phone is made of liquid metal composite alloy developed by Caltech. And yes, it’s a DuoS phone with space for two SIMs. The spec sheet looks quite decent, except for the fact that the phone doesn’t have 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS.

Vertu readies new luxury phones for Japan

Target Customers: Style conscious people.

After Nokia revealed its plans to stop manufacturing cellphones for the Japanese market, except for the luxury Vertu brand, this was quite expected. Vertu has announced its latest mobile phone editions for the Japanese market. The new Vertu phones to be launched in Japan includes the ‘New Signature Collection’, ‘Ascent Ti’, ‘Ascent Ti Ferrari Rosso’ and ‘Giallo’. I don’t think Nokia will be able grow their market share in Japan just by selling Vertu phones. Anyway, this is great news for the uber rich people of Japan as Vertu phones are amongst the most famed luxury handsets in the world.

Pricing & Availability:
No words on pricing, but these phones will be available on February 19th via NTT DoCoMo.

Futuristic Zero Concept Phone with holographic display

Designer: Josselin Zaïgouche.

This one is literally a different take on the design of a mobile phone. The Zero Concept Phone isn’t shaped like a zero, but it’s a square box with two equal sides that connect to each other. When these two sides are together, the hollow part in the middle becomes the transparent holographic display for the phone. You can make calls or do other tasks on the screen hologram of the Zero phone. When the two sides are open, the phone works as a normal telephone and there is no screen. The Zero concept phone looks to be something straight out of a futuristic sci-fi movie.

What’s innovative? The overall design and the disappearing holographic display.

World Largest 3D LED display is 180-inch

What could possibly make the news better than a World largest display with 3D technology? A US based but China manufactured LED display can interpret 3D video content at the size of 180-inch. The commercially behemoth can be further expanded in a trio arrangement to gather up to 360-inch of big wall display. If you have a dream of having a best-in-town Superbowl party, this is your Lombardi screen estate.

NewSight_180inch_3D_screen

Developed by NewSight Corp; it’s the World’s first autostereoscopic 3D display at the size of 180 inches, viewable without the need of eye-straining glasses. The manufacturer also claimed it has a tolerable viewing angles and can be watched from 5m away.

I’ll skip the oddly patterned sides panel and probably photoshop-masking the elderly couple out the picture; seriously, the picture doesn’t justify this 180-inch 3D LED Wall.
