Sony has aspiring DJ’s in mind with the introduction of the new XROSS FADE system (model LBT-DJ2i)- a DJ-style 450 watt system designed to allow users the ability to mix and play music from a variety of audio sources including Apple iPods. The XROSS FADE includes DJ-style features including a cross-fader with monitor cue, and a built-in two-channel mixer. Users can check upcoming tracks via headphones to make sure the tracks are cued properly before playing them aloud. Other features include:
- Record mixing sessions to USB devices in MP3 format
- iPod-like interface and scroll wheels (two of them) allow for easy menu navigation on the iPods without the need to touch the iPods
- MP3 Booster+ improves audio quality by restoring sound lost during compression. Beat blend adds a layer of pre-programmed percussion drum sounds and drum loops over the mix
- Includes CD player, AM/FM tuner, and line-in jack for external audio sources
- Converts CDs and AM/FM radio to MP3 files
- Two-way bass reflex speakers and a dual 7 inch subwoofer enclosure

Sony introduced their all-new S-AIRPLAY system today - a new wireless, multi-room audio system featuring Sony’s S-Air technology and designed for iPod users. With the S-AIRPLAY, audio is wirelessly transmitted from the system’s main docking station in one room to various other rooms throughout the home via separate plugged-in S-AIR wireless speakers. This means you won’t have to bring your iPod from room to room - just keep the iPod docked to the main system and listen to the music wirelessly transmitted to the remote rooms. The S-AIRPLAY has a range of up to 164 feet and makes listening to your iPod in multiple rooms a breeze.
The S-AIRPLAY comes with a single docking station and two S-AIr wireless speakers. The system supports up to 10 speakers simultaneously. Features of the S-AIRPLAY include:

Sony announced a new virtual pet at the Leipzig game conference yesterday, the EyePet. The EyePet is a virtual pet that works along with the camera attachment on the Playstation 3.
The idea behind the EyePet is similar to other virtual pet software. You’ll have a pet, and that pet will exist only on your Playstation. Playstation takes the virtual pet to anew level however by adding functionality with the camera attachment.
According to Sony you’ll be able interact with your pet by moving your hands in front of your Playstation’s camera, and you’ll be able to do things like roll a real ball on your table and have your virtual pet chase after it. Look for the EyePet to become available in late 2009.

Playstation announced a new 160GB PS3 system at the Leipzig Games Convention. The new system will be sold as part of a limited-edition bundle available in November.
The bundle will include the 160GB Playstation 3, the game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, a Playstation Network voucher for PAIN, and a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller.
The new 160GB PS3 will have the exact same functionality as the new 80GB PS3 that has just started to become available at stores. The only difference between the two gaming systems is their hard drive space, the 160GB version offering twice the space for users to store games, music, and videos from Sony’s new video delivery service.
The 160GB PS3 The Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune bundle will be available in November for an MSRP of $499.99.

Sony unveiled a wireless keypad for the PS3 at their press conference at the Leipzig Games Convention. The keypad will attach to the top of an existing Playstation 3 SINAXIS or DUALSHOCK wireless controller and will give gamers access to a full keyboard.
In addition to the obvious keyboard feature, the keypad will also have a mode that will turn the main area of the keypad into a touchpad. The touchpad mode will allow users to slide their finger on the area to move the cursor on the screen.
The keypad will also have two short cut buttons that will allow users to go directly to the “Message Box†and the XMB’s “Friends†icon during gameplay.
The keypad is also a Bluetooth device that can be used with any other Bluetooth enabled device that has keyboard functionality. That means you could theoretically use the keypad with something like your smartphone or GPS as well as your Playstation.
Look for the PS3 Wireless Keypad to hit stores sometime in November.
