So now we know why Moto RAZR sells well in US. Its because of its rugged quality of the phone. The metal of the outer shell protects the phone, and in this case, it did a lot more than that. It actually saved a man’s life.
68-year old Louisiana resident, Ronald “R.J.” Richard was on his lawn mower when suddenly a bullet hit him in the chest. At first, Richard thought it was a sudden jerk from his lawn mower but after removing his sweater, he found his phone damaged and a .45 caliber bullet dropping on his lap. Wow! A man having his RAZR in his shirt pocket, gets hit with the bullet which actually hits the phone and the man walks away unscathed. Excellent thing but will this incident show up some effect in next month’s NPD report? The chances are very slim.

Man with two first names and New Orleans resident, Ronald Richard was minding his own business, mowing the lawn when he felt a hard object hit him in the chest. In the exact spot where he had his Motorola RAZR. Richard later took off his sweater and discovered the .45-caliber slug. His phone had taken a bullet for him.
According to paramedics, the angle of the bullet and the cellphone made all the difference. Otherwise he would be dead or seriously injured. The interesting part is that Richard normally clips his cell phone to the hip pocket of his overalls. On that day he hooked it to the chest area of the overalls just over his heart. So, does he owe his life more to his overalls or his phone?

This year nothing appears to bode too well for Motorola as their mobile business continues on a downward slope that seems to have no end in the sight. So what else could go wrong for the former mobile giant
Just the other day Motorola lost its throne as king of the hill in the U.S mobile phone market to bitter rival Samsung now the dusts has barely settled and Motorola has been put into submission once again by another mobile competitor Apple.
The once very popular Motorola Razr V3 h

It was just a month before where Motorola RAZR was leading the pack for the top selling phone in US for almost 3 years. Well, the record seems to be officially broken. According to the latest report released by NPD, previous quarter’s best selling phone is iPhone snatching the number 1 spot from RAZR which stands at number 2 now. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since the awesome quarter Apple went through by shifting 6.9 million iPhones.
The top five phones in US are:
1) Apple iPhone 3G
2) Motorola RAZR V3 (all models)
3) RIM Blackberry Curve (all models)
4) LG Rumor
5) LG enV2

What the ….???! NPD Group released a report of the five top selling phones in US which to everyone’s surprise is Moto RAZR V3, heading the mobile phone charts. Motorola may have hit the right note to appeal the US citizens but still have a lot of work to do to please the world. No need to say their current financial status must have made them realize that US Market does not equal the World Market.
Anyways, if you’re waiting for the remaining four phones which ruled the US market, then they are as follows:
2) Apple iPhone
3) Blackberry Curve
4) LG Chocolate
5) Blackberry Pearl

Sources have revealed that in a relatively quiet manner, Motorola has begun shipping out the new V9x RAZR2 to AT&T stores. With no real pomp or circumstance, it doesn’t seem to be a matter of much importance or publicity. However this can be great news for the Motorola faithful who always look for the latest and greatest model.
The V9x offers a couple major differences than that of its sister model, the V9 mahogany. One obvious difference is the color — black, instead of mahogany — but the largest addition is the inclusion of GPS with this model, thus enabling users to receive turn-by-turn navigation through the AT&T Navigator service.

AT&T seems to be working on adding GPS into more of its non-smartphone lineup. It first added GPS in the Motorola Z9 and most recently released the Samsung Rugby A837 in September. Frankly, it’s about time — many of the competitors are offering navigation on their non-smartphones. There is a large underserved market for consumers interested in turn-by-turn navigation that do not need the bells and whistles provided by a PDA phone.
We will keep you posted on any more GPS-capable phones coming down the pipeline, but we are hoping this is just the beginning!

All you Alltelians out there in need of a good-featured and inexpensive clamshell, check out Alltel’s latest phone: MOTORAZR VE20. Already available in the US via Sprint, Motorola’s VE20 is presented by Alltel as the lightest phone from the RAZR family. And it really is, since it weighs only 3.17 oz (~89 grams).
MOTORAZR VE20 is not too different form the other RAZRs when it comes to aesthetics, so those who love the series’ look and feel will most probably love the VE20 too.

The features of MOTORAZR VE20 include:
- Touch-sensitive controls on the external display
- GPS capabilities, TeleNav pre-loaded
- Stereo Bluetooth
- Music player
- 3.5mm headset jack
- 2 Megapixel camera with video recording
- microSD card support, up to 2GB
- Up to 4.15 hours of talk-time and up to 360 hours of stand-by time
MOTORAZR VE20 is priced at $99, but only after a $50 mail-in rebate and with the signing of an Alltel contract agreement for two years.
The clamshell is not available right away. It can only be pre-ordered and received on September 25, the same date when it will be sold through Alltel’s retail stores, in two color versions: navy and licorice.

The new AT&T update to the V9 is what we feel should’ve been the original V9 release in the first place: a nice color and with GPS and Video Share equipped.
Engadget gave us the news that AT&T will be getting a shade of black for the V9, a welcome change from the mahogany color that’s graced stores since last year.
The updates will put the V9x in line with the Z9 that also comes with GPS and Video Share. Both phones will now offer the AT&T Navigator software. This is great news for those who want aGPS for AT&T in a flip phone. Currently it is only offered in slider phones and PDAs.
Whats most interesting, in our opinion, is that the GPS will work on the secondary, outside screen as well!

No word on when this will come out, however. It looks as though it will be a pretty fast launch.
