Here in the Philippines the elderly are respected and revered; these two toys are definitely not from the Philippines. First up are the wheelchair and racetrack bound racing grannies. Racing grannies. I can barely wrap my head around the concept.

The grannies can be individually controlled and are powered by AA batteries. The elliptical racetrack ensures that the race will go on even if the grannies forget where they’re going. Or what they’re supposed to be doing in the first place. Stop it. Respect and revere. Of course if you have racing grannies, then speeding granddads can’t be far behind. Actually they might even overtake the grannies because they’re on mini scooters. Bitchin’.

Whereas other cars are equipped with nitrous oxide for speed boosts, the mini scooters are fitted with oxygen tanks. For life boosts.

It’s like somebody decapitated a Nascar robot for your musical enjoyment. While I’m not a big fan of watching cars go around in circles all day myself, while hearing phrases like “y’all” and “get her done” and the like, this makes me actually want to see a robot Nascar driver. There’s just something cool about LED’s under a helmet and a CD tray mouth branded with my favorite home renovation store.
It’s an AM/FM radio and CD player helmet, designed like the one Tony Stewart wears when driving his #20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. Comes with a remote control. It would also double as a nice psycho trophy for the unbalanced Nascar fan who hasn’t managed to get close enough to bring home a head of their own for their desk. It will cost you $140 from Wal-Mart. Just where you might expect to get a gem like this.

Is there nothing that LEGO can not do? This is one of the coolest LEGO things yet. To promote and celebrate Lego World, which apparently started yesterday, this highly detailed LEGO Ferrari F1 was seen cruising the streets of Amsterdam. Jetix presenter, Leon Krijgsman rode in the Ferrari, made using 80,000 Lego bricks. Lego World will run till the 21st of this month in Zwolle, and will offer tons of Lego craziness. This awesome Ferrari celebrates the anniversary of the legendary brick. One has to wonder just how heavy that F1 is comapred to the real deal.

Here’s an interesting device for fitness oriented folks out there. Qmotions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Actiga, is launching a new game controller called the FunFitness which turns boring exercises into fun video racing games. The FunFitness controller measures running or biking body movements and then translates these movements into a video game. This means you can turn something like running in place or riding a stationary exercise bike into a full fledged gaming experience.
According to Qmotions, the FunFitness is easy to install and requires no tools at all. All you need is a stationary bike, a PS2 or Xbox, and a compatible game. Some of the games which will work with the FunFitness include:
- MTX Moto Trax
- Need for Speed Undergroud 1 & 2
- Need for Speed Most Wanted
- Gran Turismo 1,2,3, & 4
- NASCAR Sim Racing
- NASCAR Chase for the Cup
- ToCA Race Driver 1 & 2
- Midnight Club 1,2, &3
You can see a video of the controller in action here. Qmotions expects to launch the FunFitness during the second half of 2008.

Ok, it’s not a jetpack or flying car but Nissan’s new Around View Monitor is impressive transportation tech nonetheless. Best of all, it’s available this month in Japan’s new Elgrand before showing up Stateside December in the new Infiniti EX35. The Around View Monitor synthesizes the system’s four, 180-degree cameras into a single display for a bird’s-eye-view of your car’s position on the road. Now even Bridge-n-Tunnelers will be able to parallel park outside their favorite East Village bar. Full video after the break.

Infiniti looks to be upping the ante in in-car cameras considerably with its new Around View Monitor system, which makes its first appearance in the company’s new Infinti EX35 SUV. As you can probably guess, the system includes cameras at the front, rear, and sides of the vehicle, which are apparently intended primarily to help with parking, but we’re sure will also find plenty of use for practical jokes around the neighborhood. While they didn’t take advantage of that particular possibility, the folks at AutoSpies did get to check out the vehicle first hand, and they’ve thankfully provided a video of the camera system in action, which you can check out after the break.
