blood puddle pillows perfect for halloween slumber

With Halloween just hours away, here’s a great idea for anyone looking for a good last-minute fright.

These blood puddle pillows are just the thing for scaring the crap out of your roommate when they wake up and find you lying there in a pool of red tomorrow morning.

Artist Keetra Dean Dixon made these limited-edition “Great Slumber” pillows a while back, and I don’t think you could get her to make you one before tomorrow. But there’s no reason you can’t run to the fabric store, grab some red velvet, and stitch one together for your Halloween festivities. (Unless of course, you can’t sew, in which case you’re S.O.L.)

star wars sheets and pillows for lucky kids (and adults?)

I spotted this awesome Star Wars bedding for kids recently and thought, why do kids always get the fun stuff? Why am I stuck with some boring monochrome Calvin Klein crap when kids get to sleep on Leia and Chewie and the gang? I mean, look at this kid’s cool room, with the Death Star poster and all. So. Frakkin’. Jealous.

You can completely geek out your kid’s room with all kinds of Star Wars pillows, sheets, duvet covers, and what have you- including my favorite piece (that I might have to grab for my couch) which is a pillow with the iconic opening text.

These official Star Wars pieces are available individually from Pottery Barn Kids. They range from $24 to just under $200 for the various parts, in case you just want a splash o’ Star Wars instead of going the whole hog.

The one thing I do take issue with is that they’re listed under “boys bedding” which is just silly because I know loads of little girls who would totally dig this! You know, I would get a set for myself but I worry that people might think I was a little intense. Or that I looked really really really really old for my age.

Napbook Laptop Case doubles as a pillow

Napbook Laptop Case doubles as a pillowWe’ve all experienced it. You’re working away on your laptop and suddenly you realize you could use a nice long nap. If only you had a comfortable way of falling forward and letting your drool fall where it may. Icelandic designer Hafsteinn Juliusson wants you to be able to crash whenever and wherever fatigue strikes, with the Napbook.

It’s so simple that’s it’s the work of genius. Just a normal laptop bag, but extra fluffy for sweet dreams. It should feel nice and soft whether your laptop is in or out of the bag. Extra sleep + extra padding for your laptop= awesome. We’re not sure if it’s available for purchase yet, but I’m getting sleepy just thinking about it.

space invaders pillows: count aliens, not sheep

Catch an extra 40 winks tonight by laying your head on some of these comfy Space Invaders pillows. Created as part of Taito’s Space Invaders 30th anniversary celebration, they’re perfect for the retro gaming geek who has everything.

Space Invaders Pillows

They come in the two designs shown above: one with a couple of large pixelated invaders, and the other design covered with tons of smaller alien dudes. Oh yeah, did I happen to mention that they glow in the dark? Sweet!

Space Invaders Pillows

According to the product page over at importer NCSX, “The pillows are big enough to accommodate human heads, pets, and assorted wide loads,” making them perfect for use in my household.

They’re available for a limited time only and retail for $29.90 a pillow.

cuddle up with this fleece galaga fighter pillow

This Galaga pillow is sure to liven up your bedtime by adding a touch of pew pew pew! to your nightly ritual.

The fleece pillow is handmade by CrazyOwl and sports a fighter from one of the mostest awesomest video games of all time, Galaga. It can be yours from Etsy for a mere $8. Oh CrazyOwl, you should really value your time more highly. That pillow is worth at least $8.50!

The pillow is “made in a smoke and pet-free home” which is good news if the last thing you ordered from Etsy was coated in cat hair and ash and triggered an anaphylactic reaction and hives. That totally happened to me. OK not really, but once I did get an Etsy purchase that smelled weirdly like Pine-Sol. Tragic but true. I’m still in therapy about it, thanks for asking.

P.S. If you would rather play Galaga than merely hug its fleecy stand-in, then you can play it in Firefox by downloading FireNes, or you can go for this janky online version (amusingly called “Galaca.”) I don’t recommend the phony Nintendo online version because it crashed my computer like 8 times, but maybe you like to live dangerously.

star wars characters get plush, deformed

There’s no reason that the pillows on your couch have to be square, round or rectangular. Why shouldn’t they reflect your Star Wars addiction like anything else?

R2-D2 Plush Dolls

These plush versions of classic characters from the Star Wars universe are just too cool. From the squishy R2-D2 to the scruffy Chewbacca and blobby-headed Boba Fett, you need these in your house.

Chewbacca and Boba Fett Plush

At about 7-inches tall each, I guess they’re not quite big enough to serve as pillows, but they’re great as an accent on your sofa, bed or just lying around your room.

Darth Vader and Clone Trooper Plush

Even one Yoda gets.

Plush Yoda

The whole collection is available over on Entertainment Earth for about $13 a piece.

pixelated dig dug pillows fight your inner pookas

These sweet pixelated Dig Dug pillows are completely rocking this couch! Talk about a fruit bonus.

Dig Dug pillows

Dig Dug was one of the first games I mastered, so if anyone wants to make these for me, feel free. In fact, seeing these inspired me to fire up my Firenes app and check out how accurately these pillows were rendered. Of course, I ended up playing a few rounds. The verdict: I am no longer a master. So I’m gonna have to wrap this up and get back to practicing.

how about some musical fruit?

Getting plenty of fruit each day is an important part of a well-balanced diet. So why shouldn’t your iPod take part in the same healthy lifestyle as you? Thanks to these fruit speakers, your media player can at least look like it’s eating well.

Fruit MP3 Player Speakers

Available in green apple, yellow banana, orange orange, and red strawberry flavors, these plush fruit speakers don’t just play your tunes, they give you a nice place to take a nap while you listen. Not only do they look delicious, they actually smell like their fruity doppelgangers. I don’t know about you, but I don’t know how well I’d sleep while inhaling artificial bananas.

I’ve had a bit of hard time finding these for sale, but you might have some luck poking around over on eBay. There’s also an importer called Made in China who sells them, but only in wholesale quantities — so unless you plan on stocking an entire fruit stand, that could be overkill.
