"Great LCD TV" 2009-11-08
By Nutman (Ohio United States)
I've had this Sony LCD for about 4 months. I bought it for the bedroom. The sound is really good. Once you adjust all the settings it has a great picture. In the one review the person said
the picture on this Sony was the worst. When I looked at the screen at bestbuy the picture was bad compared to another LCD it was next to. I then opened the settings menu and adjusted the settings then the picture looked great. Just as good as the other LCD. So when in a store don't always judge the picture by what they have the settings at. Just get into the menu settings and change them. What I really like about this set is HD looks great and SD also looks really good.

"Indeed, Sony is NOT what it used to be." 2009-11-07
By D. Simms
We returned this item to Sams several months ago.
Very poor everything, in our opinion and we had problems with poor sound.
We've had about 6 Sony products over the years, including: tv's, stereos,
and clock radios. The only products we've been totally happy with are the
2 clock radios! Another frustration is Sony's policy of returns, which is
poor. They also have a lot of products with proprietary issues, which means
you can't buy anything off the shelf for it. We don't buy Sony products
anymore. Sorry for the lack of all the details here, but I'm typing with a
sprained wrist, and I forgot most of the details anyway! I'll check with
the wife and ewrite more later.

"Great TV for PC monitor and television viewing" 2009-10-28
By Harry Hussey (Boston, MA)
We have had this for about 2 weeks and are very happy with it. It was very easy to set up. Our cable package only has broadcast stations but with this we seem to be able to get the digital versions of a whole lot of basic cable channels. Unfortunately, there's still nothing on them except reality shows and procedurals reruns, so it just confirmed for us the uselessness of cable TV.
I hooked up my Mac Mini with a DVI to HDMI cable and got a Microsoft Wireless keyboard and mouse for it. It works very well as a PC monitor and we are able to watch Netflix Watch Instantly movies, YouTube videos and TV shows from Hulu or the networks' sites. We are using Boxee.tv as an interface and that works well. Next up, get an eyeTV so we can use the thing as a DVR.
This is working out exactly as I had hoped and I strongly recommend this TV. We checked out the different brands at comparable price points ($400-$500) and only this one and the Samsung really floated our boat. The picture is almost too clear. I mean, how many acne scars do you really want to see? It has a very usable favorites function which allows you to save your channels. It also interfaces with our Sony Home Theater system with an HDMI cable so we can control the whole system with one remote. Actually I can use the Home Theater remote and my wife can use the TV remote and we can have remote wars.
It has a Picture in Picture function so you can watch TV while you're working on your PC. One complaint is that in order to go back to full TV you have to go through more key presses than I would have liked. The only other complaint is that it takes a few seconds to tune in each channel.
We now have a very useable media center in our living room which gives us complete access to all the wonderful entertainment out there on the interwebs!

"be careful before buying - the 32L4000 model crashed" 2009-10-02
By R. Michael Green (Cloudland, GA USA)
I purchased a 32" Sony KDL-32L4000 model through an Amazon retail partner, ABT of Chicago. It arrived quickly and worked beautifully for 13 months. Then, the picture went haywire, with shimmering , curtain like things covering the screen. I have seen this condition described in other reviews of this product.
Sony live chat worked with me and concluded there was a major failure somewhere in the system. They recommended a service center 140 miles from my home. I took the set to two electronics shops in the city near me and both of them said it was not worth fixing. Mother boards at $200.00 + each would need to be replaced and even then no guarantee of reliable performance. I donated it to a recycling center. Of course it was one month out of warranty.
At the suggestion of the repair shops, I went to Wal Mart and bought a Vizio model listed as a "best buy" by Consumer Reports for $440.00. So far it is beautiful.
I have been a Sony loyalist for years, but no more. A $700.00 TV gone in a year.
This problem may have been fixed in newer models such as the KDL-32L5000. Just a word to the wise about my experience.

"Exellent!" 2009-09-22
By T. Jackson (Marion, Ohio)
I bought this unit through Amazon.com and it was shipped by J&R Music. It was delivered within a few days, free shipping, lightweight and very easy setup, excellent picture on HD and regular channels, excellent sound. I couldn't be more satisfied.

"Buy a different brand" 2009-02-13
By M. Young (houston)
For the first 6 months we couldn't have been happier with this set. Suddenly one day last week something went very wrong with the picture, cloudy vertical lines, picture bouncing around, totally unacceptable. We understand that these things happen and called Sony for repair. To our surprise it's been a very bad situation dealing with Sony's customer service. Sony has become one of those companies that will bounce your call all over the world. We called for a replacement set 3 days ago (which took forever I might add) and I called today to find out when our replacement would ship. Let me also add that we were told our replacement set will not be new, it will be a refurbished set. When I placed the second call to find out when the refurbished replacement set would ship, I experienced multiple transfers and multiple holds - you probably know the game. I found some satisfaction when I was finally trasferred (maybe my 4th transfer?)to the computer repair center in San Diego, CA - who still couldn't provide me with a shipping date or a tracking number. I was told to call back to San Diego - to the computer repair dept.- for that later today. We'll see. I need to add that the customer service dept.in San Diego were very kind and professional and told me that they would indeed send me a new set. Still, I would advise anyone looking at this set to consider the quality of customer service you're expecting should something go wrong in the future. Sorry Sony, we've had a lifelong relationship but I'm afraid it's time for me to move on.

"Great for the money" 2009-10-12
By C C (Waleska, GA)
Super TV, great HD for the money. Sound quality is good, but not great.

"Great TV at a Great Price" 2009-10-08
By Sandra Pettry (Ohio)
We looked at a lot of tv's in this size prior to this purchase and this was the best bang for the buck. Looks sheek and the name speaks for itself. Have had a little problem with sound, not sure if it is the tv or the satellite dish connection.

"Great TV, just make sure it's not too small for your needs" 2009-10-07
By sb-lynn (Santa Barbara, California United States)
We bought this TV for my son, who was moving out of his dorm into a small apartment. We already had our own Sony Bravia 42 inch TV at home, and we love it.
No doubt there are cheaper LCD HD TVs out there, but you know when you get a Sony that you are going to get good quality. This Bravia series is no exception. The picture quality is astounding, especially when watching sporting events - you can see every face in the crowd.
I don't have much new to add to a review for this TV other than a simple warning that seems obvious - take a look at this TV at the store before you make your purchase online. When I bought this one I figured a 26 inch would be just perfect for my son, remembering my old "giant" 25 inch screens from the past. However, when this one arrived, it seemed so small. With the HD LCD screen, you really can go a bit bigger than you think. This 26 inch is great but I wish I had gotten just a big bigger, especially for a TV that's going to be used in a livingroom area.

This is a great tv. The picture is great. The sound needs improvement. I use it as my pc monitor. That works well also. I am satisfied with my purchase.

"Nice small TV" 2009-10-03
By Deep Spaceus (Fairfax, VA USA)
The Good:
- Great Picture
- Easy Setup
- Number of HDMI connections (Connected to cable, PS3, Computer)
The not so good:
- Sound is thin (but what can you expect from a small TV)
- Limited adjustment for computer resolution (only one computer resolution displayed correctly)

Anyone who watches Lost knows that the SAT phone used by the freighter people, looks like no other phone in existence. But new sat-phone company, MSV (Mobile Satellite Ventures) now has a prototype phone that looks a lot like the touch-screen SAT phone Naomi used to call for help when she landed on the island with the Oceanic 815 survivors. In fact it looks prettier.
The L-Series satellite phone will be available in 2010, complete with a new hybrid satellite/cellular system based on two satellites that MSV is launching in 2009. It go between cellular coverage when in range and satellite coverage when no cell service is available. The company plans to strike a deal with a US-based cellular carrier to sell satellite/cellular service under the carrier’s brand.

Leave it to Motorola to unleash yet another completely corny prefix to label its newest two-way radios. Yes, we wish we were kidding about the “TLKR” part, but sadly, it’s very real. Nevertheless, the TLKR T3 touts eight channels, up to 20-hours of battery life, around five-kilometers of range, a sleep mode, channel scan / monitor, an LCD screen, and comes in blue, orange and red colors schemes. As for the T5, it boasts a six-kilometer range, a backlit LCD, handsfree functionality, five call tones, slightly worse battery life, and arrives in red, blue, or black. Currently, pricing details haven’t been nailed down, but you can snap these up (if you can get over the name) next month.
