Samsung is a formidable player in the consumer electronics industry here in India but they have never been able to capitalize in the notebooks arena and thus had to pull out a few years back from the laptop business.
However, today our source associated with Samsung’s Indian division dropped a word confirming that they are looking to launch laptops again and will float in the markets by December end. He did not specify which models will be launched but our best guess would be X360 and X460 notebooks along with their NC10 netbook.

Those people contemplating to buy consumer electronic goods – specific to LG, I have some bad news to share. Come November 1 and the India division of LG Electronics will hike the prices of most of its consumer goods.
Amitabh Tiwari, the Indian head for LG India cited the hike was due to the sudden rupee depreciation against the dollar. The previous production cost was based on the average dollar cost of Rs. 43 and it was impossible to absorb it further added Tiwari.
These are some of the product categories that will be affected.
CTV – up by 3.5 percent
Washing Machines and Refrigerators – up by 4 percent
LCD TVs – No hike. LG was thinking to drop the prices by 7 percent but will now offset the price benefit with rupee depreciation.
The percent change seems very nominal but if LG’s counterparts could sell their wares at the same prices as before, LG has a chance to lose some market share considering most buyers are price sensitive.

Reliance Communications (RCom) in association with HTC announced to bring the CDMA variant of Touch Diamond phone (P3051) to the Indian market. RCom says the phone is a small effort from them to bring state-of-the-art phones to their loyal customers. But with such an exorbitant price, I think their loyalty will surely take a hit. It costs a whopping Rs. 39,900 ($801), almost Rs. 13,000 ($261) premium over the GSM version. Somebody please give me Rs. 13K worth of reasons to buy this rather than the GSM Touch Diamond.
The feature set is the same which includes: Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, 2.8-inch display, 4GB internal memory, TouchFLO 3D, 3.2-megapixel camera and GPS.
