CES : Polaroid Instant Photo went Inkless and Portable.

Remember the mini printer that fits in your pocket from Zink? They have partnered with the creator of instant photo, Polaroid to push Zink Imaging into an instant and inkless mobile printer that’s capable to produce a full 2”x3” in less than 60 seconds. The pocket-sized mobile printer uses zero ink technology aka ZINK photo paper that embedded minuscule dye crystals in the photo paper. Heat from printer activates the dye crystals to form the ‘inkless’ image. It’s water resistant and dry instantly, even come with a peel-off sticker in the back for multipurpose uses.

The portable supports Bluetooth-wireless and PictBridge for direct printing via USB connection that works with digital cameras and camera phones. The printer is selling for $150 and cost of paper per sheet is around $40 cents.

CES: Polaroid (again) enables photo printing on the fly

CES 2008: Ricoh Printers

Ricoh showed off a new printer to me this week from it’s new Aficio SP C222DN series. It’s a color laser printer and I while I’ve never used a Ricoh printer, I do use a Ricoh copier and it’s amazing and it gives a perfectly clear image everytime. I, personally, have never had any trouble with Ricoh products.

CES 2008: Smartparts launch SP8PRT 8-inch digital photo frame with built-in printer

After the bizarrely huge 32-inch digital photo frame Smartparts announced at CES 2008, this SP8PRT could almost be overlooked being a mere 8-inch panel.  However, hidden inside the frame is the display’s secret weapon: a printer, that can produce copies of images stored on the device for people to take away with them.

Smartparts SP8PRT digital photo frame with printer

Smartparts are claiming the SP8PRT is the first ever digital photo frame with a printer built-in, and I can’t think of another to prove them wrong.  While some might say the whole point of LCD-based picture displays is to avoid printing out snapshots, I can certainly think of occasions when people have forgotten to email me an image I’ve wanted, or when I’ve had pictures of my own I’d like to give to a computerless grandparent.

PrintBot gets creative with Talcum powder

Filed under:

Looking to get your message (way) out there, but don’t exactly have the means to rig up, say, a van-sized StreetWriter? Fret not, as a clever DIY’er has managed to craft a smallish printer that can blast largish text onto nearly any surface. By utilizing an iRobot Create, an old dot-matrix printer, an eBox 2300 x86 PC, a counterweight and a good bit of Talcum powder, you too can be expressing yourself on football fields, sidewalks or street corners in no time. Best of all, you can control the thing from your high-rise thanks to the built-in wireless capabilities, but you may want to strap some weaponry on it if you really plan on sending your own PrintBot out on a solo mission.

The Smart Shopper Grocery List Assistant

When I first saw this online I thought that this was just another useless little gadget that I would throw off to the side after about a week of playing with it. Being one that always forgets something at the store, I believe this could be one of those can’t live without items.
