Apples new endeavor that is sure to win Greenpeace’s heart? Just some people attaching decals to the fruit before they ripen. Could have something to do with some new Mac/Supermarket cult I suppose.

You’ve probably wondered how game manufacturers get the Nintendo Seal of Quality on their boxes. Click through for a complete rundown of just what it takes on every generation platform. As you may have noticed, the standards have gone down since the days of the NES. Full chart below.

Okay, I just saw something hilarious. Most people know by now that all analog TV signals will be switched over to digital ones come February 2009. And while all the commercials tout the process to be super easy, it may not be so for everyone.

Just watch Mae LaBorde, a 99-year old woman, try to make the switch. Let me just say, things do not go as planned for this lady.
I love when she asks, “how many W’s?” I especially like the microwave part. Oh, good stuff. Now, I know it’s not nice to laugh at the elderly, but this is just too good. Check out Mae trying to figure this whole mess out below:

It’s tough to get a good night’s sleep when you’re in the middle of a good dream and suddenly you’re assaulted by advertisements. There you are playing poker with Sigmund Freud, Superman and Seinfeld when suddenly you’re looking at an ad for penis enlargement instead of a king of clubs.
The Dream Captcha can help. Inspired by Native American dream catchers, it will protect you and your dreams from pop-ups,viagra ads, and all sorts of other dream-spam. Sadly, you’ll have to make one yourself, since it isn’t available for sale.

Okay, so I need to speak up about something. Why oh why have there been so many abuses of the teddy bear lately? Headless teddy bear flash drives and now this lamp? What is the world coming to!
But in all seriousness, the Teddy Bear Lamp is just like any other light fixture. It features a shade made from black fabric that sits on a teddy bear’s body. He’s soft and fuzzy but missing his head!
In its place is a light bulb to brighten up your room and cast an eerie glow over the decapitated bear. You can get this bear abomination for £59.99 or $84.75. Funny stuff, really but why do they always have to mutilate the teddy bear? Why not a fish or a giraffe or something?

Tired of waiting in the security lines at the airport? Tired of having your laptop scanned? Well now, you can do more than use a checkpoint-friendly bag. In fact, you can send a little message to the scanner operators!

These message plates are described as a “carry on” communication system. Made from metal, they display messages for the X-Ray to pick up when run through the scanning machine. All you have to do is place the plate in your bag and it is sure to attract some attention.
Now, of course, these are not something you can go buy and it’s probably not a good idea to do it in the first place. However, artist Evan Roth has developed this project and will soon be documenting it in real world situations. Pretty funny stuff and sure to make some sort of a statement, at the very least.

Sometimes consumers complain about things that are just petty. But this time, I’m going to have to side with drivers traveling through Lancaster, CA that have to put up with a harmonic segment of road.

Okay, so the idea here is that when you drive over the road at a particular speed, it plays the William Tell Overture. Seriously. A bunch of grooves were cut into the road to create the differences in pitch as a part of a marketing campaign for the Honda Civic.
The problem, is that unless you’re driving a Honda Civic at a particular speed, all you’ll hear is a high-pitched drone. And even if you are driving at the right speed, it has all the musical quality of trying to play Jingle Bells on your phone’s keypad. It’s just not melodious and distracting, if anything. Enough drivers complained and now the stretch of highway is getting repaved.
