Rock Paper Scissors League Championship

Rock Paper Scissors League Championship
If you happen to be in Las Vegas this weekend, you might want to check out the 2008 USA Rock Paper Scissors League Championship on June 20 in Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The Champion with the best hand skills will win a $50,000 prize and a ticket to compete in Beijing,China during the Summer Olympics, where they will represent the U.S. in the inaugural International Rock Paper Scissors Federation Championship.

I’ve never been entirely clear on the official rules. It always gets tricky with rock against paper. Paper can wrap around a rock and strangle it, but on the other hand, rock can beat paper to a pulp. Check out the video below. It’s strangely mesmerizing.

Hotel to rent Wiis for $120 an hour

Hotel to rent Wiis For $50+ an hour
Looks like the Wii is still immensely popular. Don’t think so? Well, the Westin chain of hotels obviously does. They recently announced that they’ll be offering Wii rentals at their 150 locations. If Manhattan’s Le Parker Meridien is any indication of what they will charge, it will be expensive. They charge $50 to rent the $250 console for an hour.

If you have money to burn and want it projected onto a wall with a personal trainer in the gym, you’ll pay $120 an hour. If you have to pay that much to play Wii sports with someone, it might be time for you to get a new hobby. It’s not like you’ll be playing Wii golf with Tiger Woods after all. Don’t be a sucker. Take your damn Wii with you, people.

Cooltone mini fridge keeps tunes, beverages on tap

Filed under:

As far as gadget-enhanced fridges go, this Cooltone one leaves a bit to be desired, but it still packs enough unnecessary excess to attract some attention, although actual sales might be another matter. On the fridge side of things, it’ll hold twenty 400ml cans and it boasts a so-called Quick Cool feature that’ll get things “cooling within seconds.” On the less practical part of the equation, the fridge boasts a top-loading CD player, an AM/FM radio, some built-in speakers and, of course, a line-in port to accommodate your iPod or other MP3 player (no iPod dock though). That can all be controlled with the included remote, and the fridge can also be hooked up to some external speakers in case you prefer music that doesn’t sound like it’s coming out of a fridge. From the looks of it, the fridge is shipping now, with it setting you back £130 (or $264).
