little dude lights up your room, holds ipods

While this little guy could just hang out on your desk looking cool, he’s much more interested in helping out instead of just sitting around doing nothing. Not only can he function as a brilliant desk lamp, he can hold on to your iPod when you’re not keeping it in your pocket.

Sumajin FLEX iPod Lamp

Industrial design shop Sumajin’s 12-inch tall FLEX Light Bearer has a pair of adjustable hands which can hang on to an included lighting fixture, or can be swapped out for grippy hands which hold your media player while it’s charging or syncing. If you’re looking for a bit more of a mood light, he’ll hold a tea light candle instead of an electric lamp.

Sumajin FLEX iPod Lamp

FLEX is made from ABS plastic and comes in three colors: white, black and silver. At a rather pricey $200, he’s not for everyone, but if money isn’t an object, you can find him at Sumajin.

BenQ Updates World’s Slimmest 8mp Dgital Compact Camera

BenQ presented a sleek and slim X835 last month with a mere 12.5mm in thickness. Apparently that wasn’t enough, they have went beyond 10mm this time with DSC-X800 claiming World’s Slimmest 8mp digital compact camera at 9.8mm.

That’s not all, the display has been replaced with a larger 3” LTPS LCD and added a Super Macro mode that’s capable to focus at MFD of 1cm ~ 5cm. Sound like a good choice of macro compact cameras for macro lovers. So what’s the secret? The answer is lies within the new internal Zoom lens as oppose to an external version compare to X835 that features 35mm equiv of 38 ~114mm zoom range. The new x800 has 2 colors option like before: Vixen-Red and Midnight-Black. The delivery date is Q1 of 2008 but price information is not available at this time.

CES 2008: BenQ launch MID WiFi & 3.5G Mobile Internet Device

BenQ will be officially presenting its MID Companion Device at CES 2008, hoping to rekindle any waning interest in the UMPC ultraportable tablet format with its pocketable internet browsing handheld.  Based on Intel’s Menlow platform, and fully wirelessly capable thanks to both WiFi and 3.5G cellular broadband, the MID uses a Linux OS rather than something from Microsoft’s stable.

BenQ MID at Intel Developers Forum, September 2008:

The MID has a 4.8-inch touchscreen and is being billed as a portable internet device rather than a full laptop or ultraportable replacement.  This is likely to avoid the disappointment seen in the UMPC market, where reviewers criticised the handheld tablets as underspecified.

BenQ’s DC-X835 sneaky 8 megapixel anti-shaker

Filed under:

BenQ is back with another digital snapper ready for action during the holidays. At least we think so — no price or availability were announced. Nevertheless, the DC-X835 is an 8 megapixel version of their DC-X735 slimster. As such, you’re looking at a 3x smc Pentax optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD, and a “unique” Super Shake Free mode. So unique they can’t tell us whether it’s optical, mechanical, digital, or what. VGA video in MPEG-4 at 30fps in a 12.5~14.7-mm thin take anywhere camera with SDHC storage closes things out.

BenQ rolls out X-series LCDs aimed at gamers

Filed under:

Gamers looking for an “Xtreme” display to go along with their array other Xtreme gear now have a couple of new options to consider from BenQ, which just announced its new line of X-series LCDs. On the top of the heap is the 22-inch X2200W, which boasts a 1680 x 1050 resolution, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, an 8 ms “Motion Picture Response Time” (or 2 ms gray-to-gray response), an HDMI port and, perhaps most notably, a 92% color gamut. Moving on down the line, the 20-inch X2000W will give you pretty much all the same specs (minus the 92% color gamut) in a slightly smaller package, while 19-inch X900W and X900 knock things back even further with 1440 x 900 and 1280 x 1024 resolutions, respectively, plus an 800:1 contrast ratio, and DVI and VGA ports, but no HDMI. From the looks of it, however, only the X900W has a firm US release date (this month), with the X2000W and X2200W each making their way to China and “select countries across Asia Pacific and Europe,” and the X900 headed to Europe only, also this month.

BenQ intros MP511+ DLP projector in Indian market

Filed under:

BenQ’s MP511+ isn’t the swankiest of PJs, but it should do just fine in the average boardroom, classroom or living area. The DLP projector sports an SVGA (800 x 600) native resolution, 2000:1 contrast ratio, 2,100 ANSI lumens, BrilliantColor technology, VGA / component / S-Video / composite inputs and the ability to “adjust red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow independently for hue, saturation and value.” Additionally, this unit boasts a wall color correction feature that enables you to satisfactorily view content sans a white wall, and it shouldn’t whir above 32dB while in operation. Considering the ho hum list of amenities, the Rs 31,499 price tag seems about right (if not a touch high), and apparently, you can snatch this up in the States for around $619 if it tickles your fancy.
