Normally, if I told you your robot was smoking, you’d have to send it in to a technician to have it looked at. I’m not quite sure why anyone came up with this idea, but they did. This little robot keeps your room nice and smelly, thanks to a incense burner hiding in its belly. Say, I made a rhyme, and I wasn’t even trying!

Even though these handmade German wooden robots measure just a little more than 6-inches tall, they should do a great job stinking up your entire room. Can you tell I don’t care for the way most incense smells? But I guess its better than the greasy oilcan aroma that most robots leave behind.

You can get your hands on these odoriferous little robots over at GeneralRobots, where they sell for €39.99 (appx. $54 USD) each.

You know me, slap some retro Nintendo stuff on anything, and I’ll probably write about it. Actually, no. It actually has to be cool. Here’s a little something for you gamer grlz out there who have a fond place in your hearts for your old Nintendo Game Boy.

Textile crafter Amber over at Sew-Oeno is seen here modeling her latest creation, the Nintendo Game Boy tube dress. It’s made out of a gray knit fabric and embellished with the familiar red and black buttons and grey screen of the classic 8-bit handheld.
While it’s not as functional as say, the actual working Game Boy costume, it is pretty cool for someone who can actually fit into a tube dress. And while you’ll probably wear this thing with black tights underneath, you could always wear a pair Space Invaders tights with them if you feel really confident.
The medium-sized Game Boy tube dress can be found over at Sew-Oeno’s Etsy shop for $60 (USD). She’ll also quote you for one in your size if you drop her a note.

These tiny little crocheted Mario and Koopa Troopa figures are just dying for a home on your desktop.

Handmade by EnemyAirship (who also gave us the awesome Racoon Mario rug and Question Mark Block ottoman), these miniature Mario and Koopa Troopa are perfect for anyone with a fondness for the Super Mario Bros. series. You’ll notice that Mario is once again donning his Raccoon suit, while Koopa Troopa has hidden inside his shell, ready to be tossed at other enemies.

If you want these guys, you’d better start punching some blocks, gather up $26 bucks in gold coins and rush on over to EnemyAirship’s Etsy shop, since they’re the only ones up there at the moment. And if you don’t get there in time, you’ll just have to settle for one of these…

Looking like something that Junktown mayor Killian Darkwater might have in his office, the Sojourner keyboard refuses to blend in with the sleek and square modern computers of today. The Sojourner packs a modern keyboard’s guts into something that looks like it has a story behind it, something with a soul, something historic, aged, expensive, while actually being none of the above. Except for the expensive bit.

The Sojourner is but one of faux-antique master/steampunkifier Richard R. Nagy, who goes by the awesome moniker Datamancer. He’s also responsible for the wind-up laptop, which has a key that you turn to uh.. turn it on. And it ran Windows XP. How ancient is that?

The Sojourner is made of polished brass that’s been “artificially tarnished”, and then fitted with an aged leather faceplate, above which rests keys that are electroplated in brass and have parchment key inserts. For some reason the parchment Windows key cracks me up.

As I said, the Sojourner is quite pricey, so much so that Datamancer isn’t willing to put a tag on his creation, although he does say that his keyboards are in the $1200 to $1500 range. Also in that range? A 21-inch iMac. But Datamancer himself asserts, “My keyboards are that expensive because they are that difficult to make.” Still interested? Contact him at datamancer@datamancer.net, and while you’re waiting for his reply check out his website and have a look at his other creations.

What is it about retro gaming laptop sleeves lately? I’m guessing there was some sort of memo floated around the DIY community, because suddenly laptops everywhere seem to be wrapped up old school style. I gotta get behind this Gameboy sleeve, though–if only because it takes a portable to hold a portable.

I think it’s also safe to say that this particular design wins due to the inclusion of a game of classic monochrome Tetris. The very sight of it inspires a bit of green-tinted nostalgia, doesn’t it? This project is the first Craftster member instantblue has posted. It’s good to start near the top, eh?
The case itself is made of felt, but the designs required a little more flash: the buttons are made of sculpey clay, and the rest was done with stencils and the help of a good ol’ inkjet printer.
