pac-man quilt with moving pieces

While this isn’t the first Pac-Man quilt we’ve ever seen, I would argue it’s the best. Why? Because the Pac-Man and ghost pieces are movable, so you can play with them on the quilty game board!

The blue parts are appliqued on with yellow buttons sewn on for the dots. The characters are hand-sewn for maximum cuteness!

Crafter Curegreed made this as a treat for her boyfriend. She said it took hours and hours to get it right. What a lucky guy! Check out this animation of the game in action.

Check out more pics here.

classy pac-man on the high fashion runway

You may not be into high fashion runway shows, the Spring/Summer 2009 Giles Deacon collection might change your mind. Most of the models wore giant Pac-Man characters on their heads!

Deacon also had the floor painted with imagery that could only be described as Capcom-tastic. It had a giant Pac-Man screen rendered in black, blue, and yellow.

While most of the actual clothing was not Pac-Man, there was this glittery frock rife with pastel Pac-mania.

No report as to whether they used wockawockawocka sound effects as the models took the stage…

plastic tablecloths + brilliance = pac-man: the movie

Stanley Wong and Tyler Russel have made a Pac-Man movie from the ghosts’ perspective that is quite a hilarious piece of filmmaking. If you are (or ever have been) a retro gaming geek, then you’ll probably want to spend the 5 minutes it takes to watch this.

The premise is simple: this is the Pac-Man story from the rarely imagined viewpoints of those pesky ghosts, Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. To achieve this cinematically, the filmmakers have asked grown adult actors to don plastic tablecloths and deliver their lines with absolutely no sense of irony. Check out the video here:

Interesting how your perspective can change. Don’t you kind of think Pac-Man is a bastard now?

Someone get these guys a contract with Miramax, stat!

A possible ghost caught on video?

ghostly image in asheville camera

Technology meets paranormal investigations. No.. this is not an episode of the “Ghost Hunters” but rather a video clip captured by a surveillance camera at Asheville High School in Asheville North Caroline. In the video, you see a dark shadow move across the screen which also happens to cast a shadow beneath it onto the floor. What makes this rather unique is - the surveillance camera is motion activated.. so that blurry thing was.. was enough of a mass to activate the camera into action. Could it be a bat or perhaps a trick from some high school student or faculty member? Or maybe.. as one faculty member theorizes.. this is some former student who’s back to haunt the school grounds. Whatever it might be.. me thinks this calls for a visit by the members of TAPS (and maybe a future episode of the Ghost Hunters).

pac-man ghost hats gobble heads, not dots

I can’t decide if these Pac-Man skull caps are awesome or just weird. Let’s just go with awesomely weird. The colorful ghosts of video games past make yet another appearance, this time as crocheted hats.

Pac-Man Clyde Hat

Crafter ShadowsInTheNyte hand knits these goofy ghost hats to look like familiar video game characters. While I could only find Inky, Pinky and Clyde (where’s Blinky?), there’s also a Bob-Omb (Super Mario Bros.) and Moogle (Final Fantasy) hat available in her Etsy shop.

pac-man ghost knit hats

While they do look very much like their video game counterparts, I can’t help but think that I’d look like Dumb Donald from the old Fat Albert cartoons if I wore one.

See what I mean?

Woman buried with cell nags husband via texting

Woman buried with cell nags husband Via texting
Sadie Jones died five years ago and was buried with her most her cell phone. Her widower, Frank Jones, claims to be receiving text messages from beyond the grave. Shortly after his wife’s death, Frank claims he missed a call on his mobile, which didn’t even ring.

He claims the call was from his own home number, but there was nobody in the house. But when he entered the house, it smelled like cigarettes and her perfume. Frank also claims that his late wife has been sending them all SMSes from beyond the grave with words that Sadie would say, but no number. Isn’t that just like a wife? She nags you through life, nags you from the grave and just like when she was living, what the hell can you really do about it but try to block it out?

USB Ghost Mouse: Who ya gonna call?

USB Ghost Mouse: Who ya gonna call?
I may have missed a memo, but last I checked Halloween was still a long way off. These should have surfaced around October. But hey, I guess even the Ghostbusters need a mouse that fits their style, though this ghost was obviously based on the Scream mask.

The mouse features an advanced 3-button optical scroll technology to provide you with high precision control. 800 dpi optical sensor. All the usual specs of a mouse. Aside from looks, I think the one thing that might make using this mouse a tad awkward is the ghost’s tail, unless your hand conforms to it. Scare up one of these for $12.

blinky sneakers for the true pac-maniac

I’ve got a (Pac-Man) fever, and the only prescription is more Blinky. Well the good news is that there are certainly plenty of Pac-Man’s ghostly pals to go around on these most excellent sneakers from designer Ben Sherman.

Ben Sherman Blinky Shoes Pac-Man

Sherman’s aptly-named Blinky Shoes are covered from end-to-end with tons of little monochromatic ghosts, with just one red Blinky hidden on each shoe. If you’re a true Pac-Man fanatic, you simply must wear these everywhere you go. I think they’d look especially good with a matching Pac-Man hoodie.

When you’re ready to hit the streets, you can grab a pair from the Gap’s Piperlime ($60/pair) or if you want a real bargain, check out OnlineShoes.com (currently on sale for $39.95 a pair).
