In addition to IceTouch and Myfit PMPs, Samsung was also showcasing TicToc audio player. The player emphasizes on the minimalistic design and an intuitive TicToc Motion Control UI. Pressing the button on the top and shaking it will skip it to the next track or tilting it down or upwards changes the volume. Interestingly, shaking it faster or slower skips to the next fast or slow song respectively. This player seems to be targeted at youngsters (predominantly female) going by the choice of colors on offer. It will be available in capacities of 2 and 4GB with an estimated battery life of around 12 hours. No word on the price or availability.
The Myinee Abbee is ideal for those who want to enjoy commercial-free music at home or on-the-go. The gadget is basically a combination of an FM radio and a portable music player that allows you to record songs from your favorite FM station to the Music Lock portable player and automatically removes commercials and DJ talk. After releasing SAFA Magic Study Touch, the company has also released the “Tting” DAP for the South Korean market, which is based on the motto of “Art to Fun”. The gadget uses a high quality sound codec from DOLPHIN Integration in France. In addition, the SAFA Tting also features the latest 3D G-sensor and 27 LED lights. Apple products come with three qualities– simplicity, sleek body and minimalistic design. The latest 3rd Generation iPod Shuffle boasts all the three qualities but I think Apple may have gone too far with minimalism. The new iPod Shuffle is totally different from its predecessor and adopts a flash drive-esque form factor with just one button on the whole player and the music controls placed on earphones. We tried out the Shuffle for a considerable amount of time to let you know if Apple’s minimalistic approach is worth your money.
Cowon has announced the availability of its new iAUDIO 9 digital audio player. Measuring 95mm x 43mm x 8.9mm and weighing at just 40grams, the gadget features a 2-inch TFT screen with a 320×240 pixels resolution and supports most of popular multimedia files including MP3, WMA, FLAC, OGG, WAV, WMV and AVI (DviX). The Cowon iAUDIO 9 is scheduled to be released in Japan sometimes next month. The 8GB model retails for 14,800 Yen ($160), while the 16GB model is priced at 17,800 Yen ($193). Transcend has announced the availability of its MP330 digital audio player for the mass market. Available in black or white, the gadget supports a wide variety of file formats including FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) alongside MP3, WMA, WAV, and WMA-DRM10 protected music files. What makes this music player more interesting is that it has a high signal-to-noise ratio of over 90dB, delivering superior audio output quality. Additional features include seven advanced equalizer effects, an integrated FM radio, lyrics support and a built-in USB connector. Apple’s much anticipated rock and roll event is over and have updated its iPod line, in addition to revealing iTunes 9 and iPhone OS 3.1. Starting with the oldest, the iPod Classic’s storage has now been bumped to 160GB for the same price of $249.
Moving onto the smallest iPod, the Shuffle has got a price cut along with five choices of colors. The controls are still placed on the earphone cords but the good thing is 3rd party manufacturers have jumped in and will sell Shuffle compatible earphones. The 2GB Shuffle now goes for $59 while 4GB for $79. A 4GB special edition polished stainless steel Shuffle will also be available for $99.
The iPod Nano is the only iPod which has got number of feature additions. New features include a larger 2.2-inch display, video camera, FM Radio with live pause, iTunes tagging, built-in pedometer, mic, speaker and Genius Mixes. The 8GB version will go for $149 and 16GB for $179.
Finally, the fastest growing iPod – the iPod touch has got a price cut, added storage, faster performance but unfortunately, no camera. A 64GB model has been added and along with the 32GB touch, integrates Open GL ES 2.0 for better graphics and up to 50 percent faster performance. Apple has apparently dropped the 16GB touch and is now selling the 8GB model for $99.99, 32GB for $299 and 64GB for $399.
SanDisk has got a new player in the market to keep its slotMusic card hopes alive. Previously, only Sansa slotMusic player was the only medium to enjoy SanDisk’s DRMed music but Sansa Clip+ also adds that integration in addition to the embedded internal storage. The Sansa Clip+ comes in capacities of 2/4/8GB and has a microSD card slot that supports slotMusic cards and other microSD up to 16GB.
If other features are of your concern, it has a 1-inch OLED display, FM Radio with 40 presets, voice recorder, EQ, Windows 7 certification and a battery life of up to 15 hours.
