Most of the handsets on the Japanese shelves are multimedia-rich and the DoCoMo PRIME F-01A clamshell cellphone is no exception. The Symbian OS powered phone is one tough handset that could withstand a depth of one meter for half an hour under water. The PRIME F-01A was announced earlier along with a collection of 22 handsets. And yes, this HSDPA phone is compliant to Fujitsu’s FOMA specifications.
Technical Specifications: A 3.5″ widescreen VGA touch sensitive display, 5.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and face detection, VGA video recording at 30fps, microSD memory card slot, Fingerprint reader, e-Wallet function, and 1Seg TV tuner.

The logic behind the release of solid, rounded clamshell phones needs to be revisited, perhaps. With Samsung SGH0a837 receiving the go-ahead from FCC, the natural reaction would have been delight. Not the case here, as the phone is yet to create any sort of hype. A copper-colored outer shell and a drab design could be the reason. However, it is always safer to take an unbiased stand. The SGH0a837 features support for dual-band GSM (850/1900MHz) as well as dual-band 3G UMTS (850/1900MHz), which might turn out to be the saving grace for this phone. It incorporates a lowly 1.3MP camera and a microSD memory slot. Entertainment is offered through AT&T’s Music services. Having said that, it’s time for the real dope. The phone isn’t resistant to water or dust. So, if the rugged appearance is something to go by, you are in for a shock.
