Western Digital is offering a small, portable, handy external Hard Disk Drive that is about the size of a passport. Western Digital is offering 160GB, 250GB and 320GB versions for $200 each and come in a black glossy finish.

WD launched the new My Passport Essential USB hard drive today with a new glossy look created to go along with the design of the company’s popular My Book hard drives. Like the My Book, the small new Essential drives have that “book” look to them with a bull-nose “binding” on one side.
But, aside from the new glossy digs this drive is still pretty much the same small pocket-sized portable drive that’s powered solely from its USB connection. It comes in sizes of 160GB, 250GB and 320GB with the largest capacity launching with a price tag of a penny under $200. They also come with some software to automatically sync up and store data from your computer along with some Google tools.
Western Digital has the new drives available now from their site and already out in some physical retail locations.

If you’re in the market for a cute looking USB flash drive, then you might be interested in this Penguin shaped USB flash drive being sold over at GeekStuff4U. You can fully remove the drive from the Penguin and then slide it right into your computer’s available USB port. There’s nothing fancy about this device - you get 1GB of space for roughly $63 dollars (yes you’re paying quite a bit for something that’s “cute”). Sorry - you’ll never see me carrying this but hey - maybe your kids will like them?

Brazilian designer Marcos Breder came up with this wonderful domino-shaped flash drive idea. First off - two drives can interlock together to take the shape of a domino. Secondly, the dots on the domino actually mean something. Every white dot that shows up means 1GB of data is consumed on the drive (although that would insinuate that the drive has 9GB of storage space which is a bit of an odd number). Gotta love designers!
