After going against Adobe with their own lightweight PDF reader, Foxit are now taking on Amazon’s Kindle with the release of their own e-book reader called eSlick.

Foxit took a long hard look at the Kindle’s specs and said, “Hmm. Pork.” No. They one-upped Amazon on so many levels that it’s amazing they ended up with a device that’s $100 cheaper than the Kindle. Like the Kindle, the eSlick also connects via USB, and it also plays MP3 files. But it can also open and create PDF files via the packaged Foxit software. Whereas the Kindle has 256 Mb of internal storage, the eSlick comes with a free 2 Gb SD card to boost its 128 Mb internal memory. And at 0.4″, it’s 50% thinner than the Kindle.

One thing the eSlick concedes to the Kindle is the latter’s wireless connectivity via Whispernet, and of course Amazon’s online library. Here’s hoping that Amazon considers support for the eSlick, because everyone will benefit from that. Also because the eSlick is a $100 cheaper. Mostly because it’s a $100 cheaper.
Soon Foxit will be taking pre-orders at their website, with a special initial offer of $230, $30 off from the ordinary price.

Why the heck would you drop $200 to $400 on a brand new console when you could get the same thing for a fraction of the price? Oh yeah, I neglected to mention that these alternate universe clones of the Xbox 360 and PS3 are crappy knock-offs from China - and that they only play 8-bit games.

These cheap-o fakes come courtesy of the shady sounding Rodisson Technologies Company, who only ask that you place a minimum wholesale order of 10,000 pieces if you want to get your hands on one of these 8-bit versions of popular modern-day gaming systems. Note that the Xbox 360 fake dons the “Happy 360″ moniker, presumably to help them avoid Microsoft’s lawyers - but I not sure that’s subtle enough. The PS3 clone goes by the name “Play Power 3,” which really isn’t much better.

Each 8-bit fake comes complete with old-school 9-pin joysticks and a light gun, which lead me to believe that the built-in games (all 512 of ‘em) are old Famicom or NES bootlegs. Caveat Emptor and all that.
Maybe you can finally play that game of Duck Hunt you’ve been dying to play on your 360 or PS3.

Owen Good over at the big K has a great idea: if you’re looking for a gift for your gamer-friends but you find that actual video games are too pricey, get them these wonderful yet cheap shirts instead. For instance, the RRoD shirt, pictured below, is just $19. The one after that, the Bioshocker, is just $18 - $20 depending on the size.

The Achievement Unlocked shirt also sells for $19, making it a nice and cheap alternative to the honest hoodie, while the Jump shirt shows that we gamers are addicted to better stuff. That sounded really wrong. Anyway you can also get it for around $18-$20 depending on the size.

To my beloved family & friends: I am a gamer and I need a shirt. Feel free to pick from any of the above, or if you’ve bought all four for me already, then hit the link for more. You’re welcome.

If you have a lot of friends but you still feel compelled to buy gifts for each and everyone of them come Christmas, you could do far worse than these Santa Claus flash disks. They come in various Santa designs too, although they’re not particularly admirable or cute.

Santa’s data-belly capacity ranges from 64MB to 8GB, so if you want to save money you can buy a bunch of lower capacity ones as gifts. Unfortunately the manufacturer’s site doesn’t have prices, but it does say that the disks are covered by a 3-year warranty. Also, worst title ever. I’m sorry.

Music phones with built-in audio chips aren’t exactly new, but have you ever tried one with a piece from Yamaha? If you want to, then you should keep your eyes on the simple Fly MC130. I’m not sure if its name is supposed to be a joke (there’s a kind of plane called the MC130) or if there’s pun involved, but I’m getting it, if only partially.
Among its main features are the inclusion of a standard headphone jack, miniUSB connector for quick syncing of music files, and the aforementioned Yamaha audio chip. All these should already make for a good music-listening experience, but of course, that’s not all.

Here’s a quick list of the Fly MC130’s other great feats:
- Support for standard connection: GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900 or GSM850/DCS1800/PCS1900, GPRS Class12
- Dimensions: 109h46, 5h13 mm
- Messages: SMS / EMS / MMS / E-Mail
- Display: 2-inch, a resolution 176h220 points, TFT, displaying more than 262 thousand colors
- Camera: 1.3 MP, CMOS, feature web camera, video support
- Sound: 64-s tone ringtone, support for MP3-ringtones
- Entertainment: FM-radio, MP3 player with support for microSD memory cards, video player, Java games
- Bluetooth v2.0 (including profiles A2DP, DUN, HFP, AVRCP, FTP, OPP, SPP), USB 1.1
- Other features: Alarm clock, reminders, notes, do list, calculator, calendar, Voice Memo, World Clock, Currency Converter and values, Stopwatch
It is said to be scheduled for a release early next week, with a retail price of 4,000 Russian rubles or about $145 USD. That’s just about the right price to consider it a bang-for-buck giving gadget. Anyone looking for a music phone to give to a music-loving friend for Christmas this year can have this to consider.

Sure, this portable gaming system might LOOK just a little bit like the Sony PSP, but don’t expect it to play any games made in the last 15 years.

Another in a long line of cheap Chinese knock-off systems, the 2PG TC8281 handheld plays a mish-mash of questionable 8-bit and 16-bit retro games that come only on special multi-game cartridges.

The 2PG console comes with five built-in games, as well as an additional “112 in 1″ game cartridge, for a total of 117 games for under $50. Hundreds of additional games can be played if you know where to look for the proper cartridges. The system also has an AV out and comes with a cheezy-looking Playstation clone controller so you can play games on your TV.

If you’re willing to take a gamble on one of these somewhat suspect systems, you can get your hands on one over at DealExtreme for $48.80 USD.

MOTO VE240 is the name of latest phone that Motorola has prepared for the mobile users in the US.
The new phone was just announced today and it will be available soon via Cricket Communications and MetroPCS, two of the largest regional US mobile carriers.
Coming as a simple candybar, Motorola VE240 is not exactly the hottest phone around. Its features are also far from what we can find in handsets like the Moto Krave ZN4, for example. But that’s OK, since the VE240 is a device made for customers who are on a budget.

Here are the known specs and capabilities of MOTO VE240:
-
1.5 inch CSTN display with 128 x 128 pixels and 65K colors
-
MP3 player
-
Bluetooth
-
“High audio” speakerphone
-
2.5-mm stereo headset jack
-
USB 2.0
-
Picture messaging
-
MicroSD and SDHC card support, up to 4GB
-
112 x 47 x 14.5 mm
Cricket said the MOTO VE240 will be available for only $89.99 after a $30 instant rebate. Tusla will be the first town to get the new candybar, while Cricket’s other markets should get it starting the coming weeks.
MetroPCS will launch the MOTO VE240 in the next weeks too, but it didn’t say for what price.

LG KP152 is surely an elegant device. Unfortunately, its features are not at all ones to crave for.
The phone might represent the beginning of LG’s new campaign to conquer emerging markets with basic devices.

-
Tri band GSM/GPRS connectivity
-
TFT display with 65K colors (its resolution is not known)
-
FM radio
-
SMS, MMS
-
VGA photo camera
-
800 mAh Li-Ion battery
-
Talk time: up to 3.5 hours
-
Stand by time: up to 350hours
-
80 grams
-
88 x 47 x 17.3 millimeters

LG KP152 will have a retail price of somewhere around $100. As seen in the images above, the clamshell will come in at least two color versions: red and black.
