With the massive popularity of the iPod and the iPhone chances are that there are many homes around the country that have both devices vying for the precious outlet space on the wall. Walk into the average gadget hounds home and you are likely to find cables and devices charging in several places.
If you (or your wife) are looking for a cleaner and more attractive way to charge your iPhone and iPod at the same time, this may be the device for you. i.Sound has a new gadget called the i.Sound Twin charger that lets you charge any two Apple 30-pin connector devices at the same time from one outlet.
The only drawback is that it seems the device won’t allow you to synchronize while you charge. The device is wrapped in glossy black plastic and has blue LED lights to draw attention to your beloved gadgets. The maker says that the charger is licensed by Apple and it is available now for $39.99.

Gadget makers love toasters. That’s because gadget buyers love everything shaped like a toaster. Whether it will make toast or not. Just check our archives of everything toaster-related. You’ll see. The latest toast-related item to come across our desk and leave a trail of crumbs is this device for powering-up your gadgets.
The “Toasting Charger” concept by Hyun-A Ko is designed to charge your batteries like a toaster cooks bread to a crispy golden brown. Just slide in a lithium ion battery, push down the handle and wait for it to pop, fully charged, maybe even buttery. There’s a color coded light on the side to show you the battery’s progress.
Awesome idea—but sadly just a concept at the moment.

Looks and functions just like an ordinary toaster, this battery charger would make a unique Xmas gift. Simply slide the battery in, push the toaster handle down and wait for it to pop back up again. Not to mention this Toasty Charger is also compatible with a variety of lithium ion batteries and equipped with color coded LED light in the shape of toast for visual reference. [YANKO]

If extra batteries or external battery packs aren’t your thing, then you might want to take a look at the recently announced Mobion fuel cell charger. It’s a nifty pocket-sized device that will charge equally diminutive gadgets, like cellphones, MP3 players, and digital cameras on the fly. This is also said to be the world’s first with a removable cartridge.
MTI MicroFuel Cells, the company behind it, claims that it will give juice to a cellphone up to ten times on a single charge. How it works isn’t exactly magic, rather, it’s powered by a 100% methanol fuel-based chip that’s covered on all sides with 110 patents on intellectual property on which it is based from.

This handy little gizmo fits in the hand just like a standard external hard drive, as seen in the photo above. MTI MicroFuel Cells says that the Mobion is scheduled to start shipping by the end of next year, though it could happen earlier depending on what happens with their current funding situation.
Currently, MTI MicroFuel Cells are said to be running out of funds, which it gets from Samsung. Now if Samsung would step in to take over, or maybe even just give more cash, we would be seeing the Mobion’s first shipments happen in twelve months or sooner.

Fancy having a round of golf AND charging your iPhone at the same time? Look no further than the Handgrip iPhone charger. It’s obviously a concept, but one that boasts more functionality than most. What’s needed here is the Handgrip iPhone charger, an iPhone in need of charging, and a wide, open space.
Basically, the Handgrip iPhone charger is some sort of golf club that magically charges itself with each and every swing made with it. And so the creator says, “Swing this many times and you get some electricity to charge your iPhone.”

That in itself is already a great feature, but there’s (supposed to be) more. “This time, its motion sensor sends your form data to your iPhone so that you can see your own golf swing animated.” And that’s the story behind the photo you see below where there’s a guy swinging on the iPhone’s screen.
Not too shabby, but I still think I’d prefer the old way of charging my iPhone. Using this might rejuvenate my handset, but in the end, I’ll be the one exhausted because of all the swinging. Still, interesting concept.

In an attempt to reduce the energy waste in the UK, O2 has just launched a new energy efficient mobile phone charger that works with most of the handsets currently on the market.
Named O2 Universal Charger, the new product is approximately twice more efficient than a regular mobile phone charger, cutting up to 70% of the wasted energy.
The charger meets the energy efficient guidelines of the US Energy Star rating and features a power control system.
The O2 Universal Charger is the first product of this kind released by a UK mobile carrier. It can be purchased as of now, from all of O2’s UK stores, for £14.99. When bought together with a new handset, the Universal Charger costs only £7.49 (offering available until December 31, 2008), while separate connection cables are sold for £4.99.

O2 says that about £30 million are wasted every year in the UK because of the improper use of cell phone chargers, so its new Universal Charger might save quite a lot of money, provided that most of the mobile consumers will use it.

You may or may not have a place in your car to place a gadget charger conveniently. That’s where this charger, shaped like a coffee cup, comes in handy. Chances are you have a cup holder, so just plug it into your cigarette lighter and sit in your cup holder. It converts the DC power from your vehicle into two 120-volt AC outlets and a USB port.
You’ll always have a spot available to charge up. Fits in any standard cup holder. This great solution is only $29.99. Hopefully you have two cupholders so you can still have your coffee too.
