Target consumers: Celebrities like Eva Longoria-Parker, hosts and presenters. Ed hardy Icing’s designer phone cases are for those who love the bling factor.
Should they buy it? No, unless they want to stand out in the crowd and garner negative attention and look like a wannabe-celebrity.
Why? The $100 Centro smartphone is popular among cost conscious consumers but Palm is trying to make it look cool and the bejeweled phone designed by Ed Hardy will surely look gaudy and zany.
Technical Specification: The Ed Hardy designed Centros are smartphones with a 5-way navigator, 320×320 color touchscreen, speaker, a camera and also a microSD card.
What others are saying?
So, Palm tapped Ed Hardy to bling-out their Palm Centro (and accompanying headset) with crystals and a tacky, flagrantly gaudy design that only tripped-out, tasteless, wannabe celebrities can appreciate.
For the users who go for simple phones with some striking features and an even better appearance, the Centro Palm Smartphone is an ideal choice. The developer of the phone hasn’t done much to improve upon its best offering, the Palm, but it has started thinking about bringing some changes. The first change is the offering of two new colours which is the Pistachio Green and a Rose coloured variant. The official website of the phone has started displaying the new variants. At least the pink variant is there for sure! Nonetheless, enjoy the new hues!
Over the course of the next few minutes we are going to establish how the recently leaked Palm Treo Pro is truly Palm’s sexiest looking smartphone ever, as well as their biggest and bulkiest model with Windows Mobile. Not that that’s a bad thing, because this particular Palm looks like it’s going to bring a few new useful things to the table.
Judging from the design, the Palm Treo Pro seems to take some cues from the Centro, while incorporating a touchscreen version of Windows Mobile into the mix. At the moment, Palm has not yet made the Palm Treo Pro official, but if anything’s certain, it’s that this smartphone is huge. They had to make room for all those nifty onboard features, I guess.

And speaking of features, here’s what we’ve managed to make out of the various Palm Treo Pro leaks so far:
-It will feature a large, touchscreen, 320×320 pixel display
-Typical QWERTY thumbpad is used for input and navigational soft keys as other Palm Treo devices are present
-There’s a one-touch Wi-Fi button built-in, as well as GPS, microUSB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack
-The processor is rumored to be 400MHz and ROM is 256MB while RAM is 128MB
-It will run on Windows Mobile 6.1
We’d like to let you know more about the Palm Treo Pro, such as what battery it will ship with and how long it will really last with “regular use” among other things, but unfortunately Palm hasn’t yet provided us with the details. We’ll all just have to wait for the official announcement then, or at least, until someone else finds another leak about the Treo Pro again. See it for yourself on video below.
Still not happy with the huge discount Palm’s given you for the Centro? Well, if you’re looking for when it will be available unlocked, look no further, for that day is now.
So it’s only available in a white color with grey accents, and will be getting a Google Maps for mobile with My Location feature. The Palm Centro may still find its way into your heart, but only if you let it step inside in the first place.
What you’ll be getting with the new My Location feature with Google Maps is:
Comprehensive information on traffic conditions in more than 30 U.S. major metropolitan areas, and partial information in many others;
Detailed driving directions with traffic estimates to avoid congestions;
One-touch recall of favorite locations and routes;
Integrated search results for business locations, including directions and contact information;
Ability to scan and drag maps using Centro’s touch screen for a PC-like experience; and
Satellite and aerial views.
Now scoot on over to Palm’s site for the $299 unlocked Palm Centro.
If you’re lying across the US border and are just dying to get your hands on the latest Palm smartphone that’s available in the market, look no further than Rogers Wireless. The Canadian carrier has announced the official launch of the Palm Centro in Canada, available to all existing customers and for new ones as well.
Palm Centro sales worldwide have already reached the one-millionth mark, and this Canadian launch will no doubt increase the numbers even more as it is put within reach of even more customers.
The Palm Centro is going to be offered to all new and existing customers in different deals. Existing customers will be able to nab one for $199 with a 3-year contract and minimum $45 monthly service fee. New customers, meanwhile, will have to live with a bum deal, and pay over $299 with the same contract details. It’s a nice time to be on Rogers, no?
Now, I don’t own a Palm smartphone, and I don’t have a Facebook (yet), but I’m sure those who do will find this bit of information very useful. That is, in case they still don’t know it yet.
Hardcore Facebook users who own Palm smartphones can now check their favorite site away from their desktops. How? By using Facebook for Palm, that’s how.
Facebook for Palm is so great, I don’t even need to tell you what you can do with it. But I will anyway, and that’s:
• Send and receive messages
• View and post status updates
• View and post photos from your smartphone
• See your friends’ profiles and photos
• Read and write Wall posts
• View News Feed
• Upload videos taken from your Palm smartphone
• Use a mobile “Contacts” tab that aggregates friends phone numbers – view your list of friends and dial or text them directly
Facebook for Palm should be good on your new and upcoming Palm Centro, as well as old Treo 680 and Treo 755p smartphones, too.
So unless you want to bother with even more boring info about Facebook for Palm, I’m sure you’ll go right ahead and download the thing directly to your phone via Palm.
Now Verizon lovers can see what the fuss is all about. Sprint and AT&T have had the largely successful Palm Centro for a while now and it’s finally coming to Verizon. Expected in stores tomorrow, it will run you a very reasonable $99.99 after rebates.
There won’t be anything different about this Centro compared to the ones the other guys offer, just that it will only be available in cobalt blue and running on EVDO (AT&T’s Centro does not run on their 3G network). This Palm is the first to offer the unlimited email and internet plan for smartphones, so expect your bill to show $29.99 each month for that package.
More than one million units have been sold, and we’re pretty confident to say that on Verizon’s network that number will continue to increase significantly. Palm claims that the Centro is off to the best start of any device in Palm’s history; with the success of the Treo lineup, that would seem a pretty bold statement.
Palm has recently announced the availability of its feature laden CentroSmartphone in Columbia with Comcel and Movistar. The company unveiled that it has successfully sold its one-millionth Palm Centro in the United States. This compact cell phone lets the users easily manage emails and text messages.
