Target consumers: Cell phone users who have no qualms in displaying their blood group.
Should they buy it? Yes
Why? Although, it looks a bit quaint but by attaching the Blood Trip cell phone charm strap to your cell phone you could get an opportunity to publicly display your blood group that might come to your aid if (God forbid) you meet with an accident. However, this Japanese cell phone strap would carry a different connotation if you are in Japan. The Japanese consider your blood type as the depiction of your personality. Therefore, if you consider the advantages and disadvantages of making and breaking a relationship consider trying this mobile phone accessory.
Technical Specification: Blood Trip cell phone charm, resembles a mini IV blood bag with the blood group written on the exterior. A metal S-clip securely attaches the charm to the cell phone.
Pricing & Availability: It is available online for about $5.82 from Strapya World.
What others are saying? SlipperyBrick’s Conner Flyn writes
Sure, it’s tacky, but then again it could very well save your life.
On TechChee Ketyung writes
Carrying one of this cellphone charms will present what kind of person you’re - well, at least, it’s so easy to make it clear in front of the opposite sex.

Those of you not blocking Flash may have noticed the ginormous Apple ad adjacent to the content column. Yeah, a little about that. So a couple of days ago our ad sales team let us know they were going to be running a pretty big experimental placement on the site, which is up just today and tomorrow. (We know what some of you are thinking, and we want to remind everyone that the Engadget editorial team does not sell ads nor have any influence on ad deals. In the biz we call it the separation of church and state (advertising and editorial), and it’s essential in maintaining editorial integrity.)
We hear that the experimental ad might be causing some issues, though, specifically audio problems, browser crashes, or might be especially taxing on some people’s computers. We’ve been informed that the appropriate ad people have been dispatched and are trying to fix the issue for everyone. But we know that doesn’t help you in the here and now, so if you’re having problems with the ads you might try turning off Flash. (For your convenience we’ve posted a few ways to do that after the break.) In the mean time feel free to vent in comments — we’re totally here for you.

Don’t you dare criticize TiVo’s ad collecting / disseminating department for slacking off, as just months after it launched StopWatch to offer up second-by-second viewing data, the company is planning to also hand over demographic information about its customers. The move is certainly likely to shift TiVo into Big Brother’s list of most highly-regarded outfits, as the information that will soon be shared with advertisers includes “age, income, marital status and ethnicity.” There’s no telling how much coinage TiVo will be raking in for such detailed data, but at least users can now watch intently knowing full well that they’re letting it all (and we mean all) hang out — intentionally or otherwise.

AdAge has a piece profiling the “180″ Microsoft made in marketing the Zune; many have already seen this year’s far less, shall we say, esoteric ads, but few (including us) realized the new hardware’s marketing onslaught was the result of Microsoft’s doubling — even quadrupling — its Zune ad budget, switching advertising firms (which resulted in those trippy Flash sites), and, oh yeah, killing off “the social”. Sorry obsessive Zune guy, we hate to be the bearers of bad news but the truth can be hidden no longer. “You make it you” is officially confirmed as the new brand tagline and the ever-so-slightly-less-grammatically-correct “Welcome to the social” is deader than a WiFi-shared song after three plays. So now that we don’t have to worry about the ever-lingering peer pressure to get social, does that mean we can loosen up a little and start to proudly love our still-virginal Zunes just as they are?

With your average non-connected GPS unit costing hundreds, we can easily get behind the idea of an ad-subsidized navigation hardware company that hooks its users up with heavily discounted (and possibly eventually free) GPS devices own or borrow (like, say, from a rental car agency). And that seems to be the angle adNav is after with their new supposedly forthcoming Boomerang GPS device, intended to be a cheap alternative to the other guys, even incorporating some less frequently used features in the GPS world, like WiFi and cellular data to browse the web or collect data (read: ads), and other connected travel utilities (translation, weather, flight tracking, etc.). Will adNav actually begin trials in San Francisco next month, as claimed? We’ll let you know.

We’ll be straight: Millennia certainly isn’t the easiest robot on the eyes, but apparently it can hold a conversation like no other. According to its maker, International Robotics, this adult-sized, multilingual creation can “communicate with any age, social, ethnic or cultural group in any type of environment.” As if those bold claims weren’t enough, the WiFi-equipped bot can also “act as an effective PR, marketing, advertising, promotional, educational or entertainment tool,” and it can be remotely controlled in case you just don’t trust it to shoot from the hip. No word on pricing just yet, but we’d imagine this fellow could practically sell itself.

As Wal-Mart continues to inch ever closer to knowing our very thoughts as we peruse its aisles, the mega-corporation has announced plans to install narrowcasting digital displays in its Canadian locales. Reportedly, EK3 Technologies’ subsidiary company ShopCast “has signed an exclusive agreement to install EK3 digital merchandising solutions in Wal-Mart Canada stores,” which could mean that spots would air based on current buying trends or inventory levels. This dynamic approach to filling customers’ heads with ideas of what to purchase will supposedly “enable [Wal-Mart] to strategically reach out to guests in-store to inform, entertain and help save them money.” There’s no word as to when this could hit US-based Wally Worlds, but it probably won’t be long.
