Sony Bravia XBR KDL-52XBR6 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV (high definition LCD TV)

Sony has claimed that its Bravia LCD TV series has long been a benchmark for all other TV manufacturers. Although it is a bit narcissistic, I would agree especially with this demand. Sony TV's no longer dominate the market, but it remains the pioneer of many TV technologies in many TV models used today. Here's a quick review of the current Sony Bravia's roll out.

The Sony Bravia XBR KDL-52XBR6 1080p LCD TV is the latest offering from the Bravia TV series. ToSo far, this model has the latest features and applications that could have any LCD television.

Electrical devices from Sony has always wore a simple and minimalist, and this can be observed in the current Bravia model. In fact, it shows little, if any design differences from its predecessors. But it must not be fooled by its deceptively simple design like this new model has hidden tones of new features below.

One of the best features of the Sony Bravia XBR KDL-52XBR61080p LCD TV is the Motionflow 120Hz technology. With this function, images for smoother transitions in videos, the delivery can to stifle the one and the tightening of the video quality.

Like many Sony devices, containing the new Sony LCD TV 24p True Cinema technology. As most cinema films are shot at 24 frames per second, this technology allows you see to start at a certain film about the quality of the films. This LCD TV feature works best with a Sony Blu-ray disc player, whichalso has 24p True Cinema feature.

Another new feature in the Sony Bravia XBR KDL found 52XBR6 1080p LCD TV is the built-in TV guide. The TV Guide continually updated for free, where you see the latest program listings from the comfort of the TV couch.

sony bravia xbr lx900 tvs get face detection to adjust image quality

The new Sony BRAVIA XBR-60LX900, XBR-52LX900, XBR-46LX900 and XBR40LX900 have a feature I haven’t come across on any other set yet. These sets include a new feature called “Intelligent Presence Sensor,” which automatically detects faces of people viewing the set, and optimizes the picture for their viewing pleasure. Under the bright lights of CES, it was hard for me to tell exactly how well this would work in a real-world situation, but it’s an interesting concept.

In addition to being able to adjust image quality based on viewing location, the sets can also be set to prevent kids from sitting too close to the TV, automatically blacking out the screen if they get too close.

TheLX900 sets offer a bright LED edge-lit 1080p LCD display, and include full support for watching 3-D programming, both will ship with a pair of Full HD active-shutter 3-D glasses. The displays also include wireless internet access and 240Hz motionflow capability for keeping images smooth as silk.

All four models will ship sometime this Summer. You can sign up to be notified when the sets are available here. Prices haven’t been announced.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-46XBR4 46″ LCD HDTV Review

When displaying high definition material, the BRAVIA KDL-46XBR4 conspicuously showcases all of Sony's video processing prowess. But what endears this HDTV to me is how well it handles mundane standard def material and backs it up with a rather impressive integrated sound system. This solid all terrain performance makes it stand out in the HDTV crowd.

 "Great LCD TV" 2009-11-08
By Nutman (Ohio United States)
I've had this Sony LCD for about 4 months. I bought it for the bedroom. The sound is really good. Once you adjust all the settings it has a great picture. In the one review the person said

the picture on this Sony was the worst. When I looked at the screen at bestbuy the picture was bad compared to another LCD it was next to. I then opened the settings menu and adjusted the settings then the picture looked great. Just as good as the other LCD. So when in a store don't always judge the picture by what they have the settings at. Just get into the menu settings and change them. What I really like about this set is HD looks great and SD also looks really good.

"Indeed, Sony is NOT what it used to be." 2009-11-07
By D. Simms
We returned this item to Sams several months ago.

Very poor everything, in our opinion and we had problems with poor sound.

We've had about 6 Sony products over the years, including: tv's, stereos,

and clock radios. The only products we've been totally happy with are the

2 clock radios! Another frustration is Sony's policy of returns, which is

poor. They also have a lot of products with proprietary issues, which means

you can't buy anything off the shelf for it. We don't buy Sony products

anymore. Sorry for the lack of all the details here, but I'm typing with a

sprained wrist, and I forgot most of the details anyway! I'll check with

the wife and ewrite more later.

"Great TV for PC monitor and television viewing" 2009-10-28
By Harry Hussey (Boston, MA)
We have had this for about 2 weeks and are very happy with it. It was very easy to set up. Our cable package only has broadcast stations but with this we seem to be able to get the digital versions of a whole lot of basic cable channels. Unfortunately, there's still nothing on them except reality shows and procedurals reruns, so it just confirmed for us the uselessness of cable TV.

I hooked up my Mac Mini with a DVI to HDMI cable and got a Microsoft Wireless keyboard and mouse for it. It works very well as a PC monitor and we are able to watch Netflix Watch Instantly movies, YouTube videos and TV shows from Hulu or the networks' sites. We are using Boxee.tv as an interface and that works well. Next up, get an eyeTV so we can use the thing as a DVR.

This is working out exactly as I had hoped and I strongly recommend this TV. We checked out the different brands at comparable price points ($400-$500) and only this one and the Samsung really floated our boat. The picture is almost too clear. I mean, how many acne scars do you really want to see? It has a very usable favorites function which allows you to save your channels. It also interfaces with our Sony Home Theater system with an HDMI cable so we can control the whole system with one remote. Actually I can use the Home Theater remote and my wife can use the TV remote and we can have remote wars.

It has a Picture in Picture function so you can watch TV while you're working on your PC. One complaint is that in order to go back to full TV you have to go through more key presses than I would have liked. The only other complaint is that it takes a few seconds to tune in each channel.

We now have a very useable media center in our living room which gives us complete access to all the wonderful entertainment out there on the interwebs!

"be careful before buying - the 32L4000 model crashed" 2009-10-02
By R. Michael Green (Cloudland, GA USA)
I purchased a 32" Sony KDL-32L4000 model through an Amazon retail partner, ABT of Chicago. It arrived quickly and worked beautifully for 13 months. Then, the picture went haywire, with shimmering , curtain like things covering the screen. I have seen this condition described in other reviews of this product.

Sony live chat worked with me and concluded there was a major failure somewhere in the system. They recommended a service center 140 miles from my home. I took the set to two electronics shops in the city near me and both of them said it was not worth fixing. Mother boards at $200.00 + each would need to be replaced and even then no guarantee of reliable performance. I donated it to a recycling center. Of course it was one month out of warranty.

At the suggestion of the repair shops, I went to Wal Mart and bought a Vizio model listed as a "best buy" by Consumer Reports for $440.00. So far it is beautiful.

I have been a Sony loyalist for years, but no more. A $700.00 TV gone in a year.

This problem may have been fixed in newer models such as the KDL-32L5000. Just a word to the wise about my experience.

 "Perfect for my bedroom" 2009-10-28
By Reynaldo Q. Devera (San Diego, CA USA)
It's features are easy to understand and picture is clear. Price is cheaper than local store. One of the things I considered buying this because of my past experience as far as the quality is concerned. I owned a big screen (63') since 1994 and never gave me a problem, but I'm going to get rid of it soon for flat screen.

 "KDL-32XBR-9 Review" 2009-10-21
By Loyalty (Louisiana)
This Monitor is amazing. It has lived up to everything that is expected of it. The picture quality is absolutely stunning in 1080P. The sound is pretty nice as well, alot of people have complained that it isn't loud enough but for a Monitor it is plenty loud and I would'nt expect much more. I would like to clarify something that another review wrote about, they said it did not pick up thier basic cable signal. I don't what the problem was but I have basic cable and NO CABLE BOX and it picked up every channel I had before I got the Monitor and also picks up all the Music only channels now as well as a few HD (1080I) channels as well. I looked on the back and the monitor was made in July of 2009. I have no complaints about this Monitor what so ever. If you are looking for a 32" LCD this is hands down the one to go with. I wished I had the budget to buy the 46 or the 52" XBR 9. For those of you who don't know anything about the Sony XBR line, let me put it to you in an easy to understand explanation, Toyota has it's High End cars under the name Lexus, Honda has it's high end cars under the name of Acura and Sony has it's High End Monitors under the name of Sony XBR. If I had to complain about anything it would be the lack of info. in the paper user manual that came with it, I wanted toilet reads while I waited on the Cable to auto program and there isn't much there. lol Does'nt matter what size you are looking for get the XBR line and you will be absolutely blown away by what you get.
