It looks like Canada is getting the BlackBerry Curve 8900 before the US, thanks to Rogers Wireless. The largest Canadian carrier is said to already have units of the new Curve 8900 in stock, ready for the official release.
Of course, there’s no word yet on when the official release will happen. However, we do know the price of BlackBerry Curve 8900.
According to BGR, Rogers will be selling the smartphone for: $179.99 with a 3-yr contract agreement; $499.99 with a 2-yr contract; and $549 on a month-to-month agreement.
Rogers’ BlackBerry Curve 8900 is UMA-enabled, this compensating for the lack of 3G and making it perfect for all those who want to use the carrier’s Talkspot service.
Unlicensed Mobile Access aside, the 8900 also offers a 3.2MP autofocus camera, a full QWERTY keypoard, GPS and so on.
RIM’s brand new Curve is not yet featured on Rogers’ website, but if you’re near one of the carrier’s retail stores, the smartphone might be waiting for you there.

BlackBerry Curve 8900, the smartphone previously known as BlackBerry Javelin, has just been officially announced by Research In Motion.
Unfortunately, it seems that only T-Mobile Germany will get the new device this year, as RIM did not mention anything about any other carrier.
Measuring only 13.5 mm in thickness, the Curve 8900 comes as the slimmest QWERTZ BlackBerry. That’s right, the new Curve doesn’t have a QWERTY keyboard, but a QWERTZ one. But basically, they are the same thing, except for the fact that the Y key is changed with the Z key.

The official specs and features of BlackBerry Curve 8900 include:
-
Quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity
-
Built-in GPS
-
Wi-Fi
-
2.4 inch, 480 x 360 pixels TFT display
-
Web browser
-
BlackBerry Internet Service
-
BlackBerry Enterprise Server
-
3.2 MP camera with autofocus, flash and video recording
-
Media player with podcast support
-
512 MHz processor
-
MicroSD/SDHC card support, up to 16GB

T-Mobile Germany will start selling the BlackBerry Curve 8900 in “mid November”, which is about now, so next week the smartphone should be available for purchase. Its price will range from €4.95 with a 2-yr contract agreement to €359.90 ($459) free of contract.
It’s highly probable that the Curve 8900 will reach T-Mobile USA and a Canadian carrier too, but for the moment there aren’t any details about a North American release.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 (the official name of BlackBerry Javelin) has just popped up on T-Mobile Germany’s website, although RIM did not yet announce it.
The German mobile operator lists the BlackBerry Curve 8900 as being available starting November. There’s also a press-photo, together with some official specs of the new smartphone.
Clearly a step forward from the previous Curve handsets, the Curve 8900 is not only a better-looking BlackBerry, but also one that comes with more features.
So, the specs of BlackBerry Curve 8900, as shown on T-Mobile’s page, include:
-
480 x 360 pixels TFT display with 65.536 colors
-
quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity
-
GPS
-
Wi-Fi
-
3.2 MP camera with autofocus and flash
-
Music player
-
1400 mAh battery for 240 minutes of talk time or 400 hours of stand-by time
-
112 grams and 109 x 60 x 14 millimeters
As you can see, RIM did not bother to pack 3G connectivity into its new Curve. Perhaps this feature is reserved for the really high-end smartphones like the Bold and the Storm. Who knows?
The price of BlackBerry Curve 8900 is not displayed by T-Mobile, so there’s no clue how much it’ll cost. For now, at least.
