Averatec Buddy netbook in the wild; 3DMark benchmarked

The Averatec Buddy netbook officially launched in the US last week, but we’re only now seeing the first live shots come through.  AVING were on hand to take the 10.2-inch budget ultraportable on a whirlwind tour of what looks to be a park and a library, though it’s not certain what the netbook’s 1.6GHz Atom processor and 1GB of RAM thought of the adventure.

Other specs include a 160GB hard-drive, WiFi b/g and a 4-in-1 memory card reader.  As usual there are three USB 2.0 ports, VGA output, audio in/out and a webcam; Averatec rate the 6-cell Li-Ion battery as good for up to five hours use.

AVING ran some benchmarks and the Buddy rated a not especially impressive (though neither all that surprising) 85 3DMarks in 3DMarks06.  US price is around $479.99, though that might be with the 3-cell, rather than the 6-cell pack.

Averatec 18.4-inch All-in-One desktop PC is Atom-based

averatec-all-in-one-18-4Averatec certainly is in the news today. We reported just awhile ago that the company had made their Buddy netbook available today and now the Averatec 18.4-inch All-in-One Desktop PC has launched in the US and guess what? It’s Atom-based.

The desktop PC was first announced in the Europe last month, but now it’s getting its US debut. It features specs that are netbook-comparable. For instance, it features a 160GB hard drive, 1GB RAM and a 1.6GHz N270 Atom processor. Windows XP is also included.

The display is an ample 18.4-inches and sports a 1680 x 945 resolution, but that is probably the only non-netbook quality of the whole device. The price tag is pretty good at $550. We expect this all-in-one is intended to go right alongside Averatec’s similar computer, the larger 22-inch All-in-One PC.

Averatec Buddy Netbook now available

We first reported to you last month the Averatec Buddy netbook when it was announced, but now it seems consumers can actually get their hands on the companionable device, at least according the the Averatec website.

buddy_big_540x413-480x367

The Buddy is Averatec’s first netbook computer and we don’t see any changes from when the device was first announced to its current specs. The netbook has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, a 160GB hard drive, 1GB RAM and a 10.2-inch display with 1,024×600 WSVGA resolution.

This Averatec offering weighs in at 2.56 pounds, has 802.11b/g WiFi and a 10/100 Ethernet connection. Three USB 2.0 ports, a memory card reader and a VGA port are also included. However, the battery is a rather disappointing three-cell battery. The Averatec Buddy Netbook will set you back $449 and is available now.

Averatec Buddy 10.2-inch netbook

Averatec have taken the wraps off of their latest netbook, the Buddy, with a 10.2-inch screen and Intel Atom 1.6GHz single-core processor.  As you might expect, the specifications aren’t anything groundbreaking: 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard-drive and WiFi.

averatec_buddy_netbook-480x409

Say it with me: another case of netbook-by-numbers.  Averatec are hyping up their keyboard, describing it as “generous” for the netbooks compact size, but I can’t imagine that it’s especially different from that of other 10-inch machine such as MSI’s Wind or the Eee PC 1000-series.  Perhaps with all that generous space you could have dropped in 3G, a fingerprint scanner and Bluetooth, eh?

The Averatec Buddy will be available with an MRSP of $449.99, making it cheaper than the MSI Wind.  However it’s uncertain whether the Buddy will include a 3, 4 or 6-cell battery pack, and in fact the company does not mention battery life at all.

Averatec’s All-In-One Desktop PC

F1_03 Averatec formally announced their All-In-One Desktop PC system today (although we saw it before when it was part of the LLUON product line) which bears a (ahem) striking resemblance to the Apple iMac. The All-In-One PC features:

Averatec launches 22-inch All-In-One PC

Averatec All-In-One PCThe concept behind all-in-one PCs is interesting to me. You cram everything a PC needs inside the LCD case and save space on the floor and make things more attractive overall. The downside of an all-in-one design is that they tend to offer less performance than can be had on traditional computers and they tend to cost more than similar standard computers.

Today Averatec announced its first all-in-one computer and it is simply called the Averatec All-In-One. The computer has a 22-inch display and inside the display case is crammed 2GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, built-in HDTV tuner and more. The computer is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 CPU and uses a discrete NVIDIA GeForce 8400 for graphics.

The computer runs on Windows Vista Home Premium and the system features a slot loading optical drive. Averatec also builds in a caddie for the remote control for watching TV on the computer. The Averatec All-In-One is available for purchase now at an MSRP of $1249.

Averatec Lifestyle Slim Desktop PC

Averatec Lifestyle Slim Desktop

While I was on the Averatec website, I noticed another one of their LLUON products - their Lifestyle Slim Desktop PC. This ultra-slim form factor PC can be positioned vertically or horizontally and is virtually silent - perhaps great for a home theater PC environment. Features of the Slim Desktop PC include:
