Seriously folks, where’s the boogie in this box? Audio-Technica’s idea of a portable speaker clocks in at 5.7 lbs and looks like a young, chubby amplifier.

Its tough-looking case houses two 70 mm full range speakers with an installed capacity of 2W each. The BoogieBox has a 3.5 mm input jack, so you can use it with pretty much any mp3 player. It lasts up to 10 hours on six 9-volt batteries, but you can also power it via a DC 9-volt adapter. The BoogieBox also comes in black and camouflage, so you can really max out the macho look.

You can order the BoogieBox at AudioCubes for $160 (USD). Frat rock music not included.

Audio-Technica expands their headphone lineup today with the introduction of the new ATH-ANC1 QuietPoint active noise-cancelling on-ear headphones. Capable of blocking up to 85% of outside noise, the ATH-ANC1 features:
- Active noise-cancelling circuitry located in an external module attached to the connecting cord for lightweight on-ear wear
- Soft, long wearing ear pads for comfort on long trips and extended listening sessions
- Folding capability for easy storage and travel
- Includes carrying pouch
- 1.6 foot extension cord
The ATH-ANC1 comes with a built-in miniature microphone used to detect background environmental noise. The technology then applies a corresponding sound-cancelling signal to reduce the background noise.
Oh and one other cool feature – unlike other noise-cancelling headphones, the ATH-ANC1 will work even without batteries or when the noise-cancelling feature is turned off.
The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC1 will be available in January for a suggested retail price of $129.95.
