Experiments with Aerogel

I made a post about Aerogel a while back and I still haven't figured out what to do with my sample. This website has a lot of practical information about Aerogel, including some experiments in conductivity and optics. It's a great place to start learning about this cool stuff.
Weight and strength wise Aerogel is most like the hard pink foam insulation used in insulating homes. It is extremely brittle. Press on it lightly and it will break. If you haven't used it before buy twice as much as you think you want. You'll need it. I also recommend finding some of that pink insulation and practicing with that first. It's foolish but worth it given the cost of Aerogel.
