Ericsson’s U500 Mobile Platform
Ericsson, yep, the other half of Sony for Sony Ericsson, has unveiled a mobile platform called the U500. The Ericsson U500 was designed in an effort to help manufacturers develop multimedia devices with multitasking capabilities. The platform is omprised of three ARM 11 CPUs (high performance microprocessors) as well as hardware accelerators. In addition to those, it also comes with a graphics processor. The U500 Mobile Platform could be used in mobile phones and other internet-capable devices. It can enable various features including 3D user-interface and gaming, CD-quality audio, 12-megapixel camera, high-resolution video for mobile TV, and high-quality camcorder. The Ericsson U500 will launch early 2009.
