Buffalo outs USB 3.0 compatible 12X Blu-ray burner in Japan

Buffalo is on a roll as far as USB 3.0 goods are concerned. They just rolled out a USB 3.0 compatible external HDD and now back in their hometown, they’ve announced world’s fastest Blu-ray writer with support for USB 3.0. The BR-X1216U3 can burn BD discs up to a speed of 12x provided you meet two important criterions – have USB 3.0 hardware in your PC and have the requisite BD media supporting 12x speed.
Good thing about this writer is that it is backward compatible which allows to be powered by USB 2.0. In such a case, a user will be able to write up to 7x speed only.
Its expected to hit the Japanese retail shelves early next month carrying a price tag of Yen 39,100 or USD 452.
