In Australia nobody wants the white iPhone

Apple iPhone 3G’s with new white boxes being stocked in AT&T store
In Australia at least, nobody seems to want the white iPhone? It looks like all of the late arrivals in Sydney were being told earlier that they might have to take a white 16GB version because they were running out of the black model.

Now, if the same thing happens here I imagine some of you are going to be not too happy about it and you’d rather have no iPhone at all. I wouldn’t want white. White is for Wiis. I’m not sure what the ratio of white to black iPhones being shipped to stores is, but judging by this video we showed you here, it looks to be about 50/50. If that’s the case, we have a problem.

Longest cycle ever holds lots of biker babes

Longest cycle ever holds lots of biker babes
Apparently the creator of this monstrosity took a page out of the electric bike train book. It’s for those with a large family or lots of friends who have no bike of their own. If you’re a biker in Utah and you’ve got like ten wives, why not take them all for a spin.

This thing has about 15 seats and looks like a giant erector set project. I’m guessing the turns are taken really wide, with everyone’s feet involved. And how much power does it actually have lugging all that extra weight around? I have no idea. But it sure is long. Yep. Long and yellow.

Wow, here are some screenshots of "Exposure" a free/fee app for iPhone 2.0 -- GPS and geotag enthusiasts will love it, you tap "near me" and see all the photos that were taken... you guessed it, near you. I'm a few blocks or so from the World Trade Center area at the moment... via Daring Fireball.

A real time machine, for your nose

A real time machine, for your nose
Here’s a merry-go-round with pods on the bottom for coma patients. The idea is that you spin them around real fast and hopefully they wake up. No…I kid. The idea here is that we can recover lost smells that no longer exist due to our changing environment.

In that sense, it’s probably the closest we are likely to come to a real time machine. At least until Doctor Who shows up. You would experience a kind of community based immersion in the capsule, and as we all know smells are linked very heavily with memory. So just like that you’re time travelling. Hopefully not to a point in history that smells really foul. It’s a concept for now so, smell ya later.

Phone shakers sound salty

saltnpepper.jpg

Check out these table shakers made from the ear and mouth pieces of an old bakelite phone. The receptacle is made from blinker lens caps from the original Morris Mini, but I bet they could be made out of something else... by you! They're called "Taste of Talking" and were designed by Hank Stallinga. Via Core77.

iPhone 3G taken apart, battery kinda replaceable

iPhone 3G taken apart
The folks over at iFixit didn’t waste any time taking apart their new iPhone 3G after the launch in New Zealand. They found some interesting things.

Most notably that the battery wasn’t soldered in place. They also discovered that the LCD and glass covering weren’t glued together as they were previously. Hit the link for more details. Though people are calling the battery “somewhat” replaceable, I’d say that the fact that it’s not soldered makes it pretty damn replaceable in my book.

Hori Real Arcade Pro EX joystick

Hori Real Arcade Pro EX joystick
Hori just dropped the Real Arcade Pro EX arcade joystick for the Xbox 360 and it looks like it is a serious way to kick ass in fighting games as well as other old school games.

It gives you eight large action buttons and a ball-grip joystick that takes you back to the arcade. I was hypnotized when I saw this and went and got several rolls of quarters, which are now useless since I’ve come to my senses. Great for Xbox Live Arcade, despite the high price of $112.

Giant watch is actually a table

Giant watch is actually a table
I guess watches are scheduled for extinction at some point. We can get the time from any of our gadgets after all. So, with that in mind, why not honor the watch by letting it take other forms. Like a large table for instance.

Oh, it will still give you the time and date, never fear. But now you can also put stuff on it and feel important. It measures 80cm x 230cm and runs on 240 volts. Just like a real watch it comes in more then one color, either silver, chrome or gold.
