Pimp your crib with custom chandeliers

Pimp your crib with custom chandeliers
Looking for something huge, shiny and just oozing with that kinda classiness that can only come from things you saw on MTV’s cribs? I think I found it for ya. Nothing says class like giant chandeliers shaped like a handgun, AK-47, Skull and cross-bones and even a giant spider.

These are the handiwork of a company called Rock and Royal from The Netherlands. They’ve been creating custom chandeliers for people with too much money since 2005. Since the work is all custom, you’ll have to contact them directly for any pricing you want to know about. What are you still doing here? Go check them out. These go hand in hand with your gold teeth and chest bling.

Motorola V9x Phone On it’s Way Soon

Here's a better Motorola RAZR like phone. The Motorola RAZR 2 V9x is an improved, better version of what we had so far when it comes to Motorola clamshell phones. Or is it the same old trick we've seen before? That's for you to decide in the future. This version is supposed to be launched by AT&T very soon according to rumors.

This quad-band will have HSDPA support, Bluetooth and GPS. You have the usual 2 megapixels camera, the microSD card slot and the USB port. Being a clamshell phone, this RAZR has two LCD screens but the external one has gotten bigger. You can follow GPS directions easily on the new screen.

The AT&T Navigator service is also rumored to be available from AT&T once the V9x is released. We're going to wait for the official release for prices and plans.

Fake stereo protects your real stereo

Fake stereo protects your real stereo
Whether you find yourself in a so called good part of town or bad, there are thieves everywhere just waiting to cash in on your devices. All it really takes to fool these fools is a bit of DIY to fake them out.

You’ll need some Velcro, a generous helping of epoxy glue and an old cassette tape. Just follow the instructions and hopefully it will keep you from getting ripped off. Because let’s face it, you’ve gotta be a real bottom feeder of a criminal to be stealing cassette decks in 2008.

Moto MING A1600, A1800 and A810 now Official

It was announced today that Motorola has officially launched three new handsets for its PDA market: the A810, MING A1600 and MING A1800. This has been expected, as the A1600 and A1800 were quietly announced a couple weeks ago.

Pen-based PDA handsets are rather popular in China because they have been designed to accomodate the Chinese preference of writing characters by hand. More than 3 million MINGs have been sold already, and Motorola believes the new additions to the series will aid considerably to the company’s success there.

The two MING phones are Star Tac-style PDAs with touchscreen and transparent flip cover, while the A810 is a entry-level PDA in a candybar design. All three should be making their appearance in China today.

The New MINGs

The A1600 and A1800 are almost identical in looks, and features are quite similar as well. Both new phones offer new enhanced GPS and smart handwriting. The GPS is unique in that it will still retrieve your position and offer navigation independantly, even if you are not in range of cellular coverage.

Both phones will also come with 1GB MicroSD cards pre-loaded with the latest maps of China. Motorola generally charges a small fee for you to upgrade the maps, but owners of the A1800 will be able to download a free upgrade once.

The 1600 and 1800 will also support cursive Chinese input with prediction capability, a business card reader and translation software. Now, the differences:

MING A1600

MING A1600

One standout feature of the A1600 is MMS positioning. When you are unsure of where you’re at or what the address is, take a picture of surrounding buildings, send it in an MMS, and you will receive notice of your approximate position.

Other features will include:

  • Internet access
  • 3.2 MP Camera with panorama capability
  • 2.4″ touch screen
  • Talking dictionary with word recognition and talkback
  • Linux platform that supports multi-tasking
  • Up to 4 GB expandable memory MicroSD card
  • Scans words and translates them for you

The A1800 has other strengths the A1600 does not have.

  • Dual-mode GSM/CDMA network support will search for the strongest network
  • 3.0 MP camera with autofocus
  • 150 MB interal memory, expandable to 4GB with MicroSD
  • Office document reader
  • Ability to screen and block unwanted calls
  • SMS spam filter
  • Integrated firewall

MOTO A810

Moto A810

Last but not least, the A810. We previewed this phone back in April and it is finally making its official appearance. This will be a good entry-level PDA for those who don’t necessarily need all the bells and whistles but do like the basic functionality of an organizer.

The specs are also simple, as predicted by April’s preview. It will feature:

  • 2 MP camera
  • USB 2.0 and up to 2 GB expandable memory
  • MP3 and video player
  • FM radio with 3.5 mm jack
  • Smart handwriting technology
  • Stock and dictionary apps preloaded

Certainly not as packed as the MING line, the A810 will still be a powerful phone for those who don’t need their phone to double as a jetpack or any other extra gadget.

As mentioned earlier, these three phones are now available as of today. Check them out at authorized Motorola retailers.

HTC NEON400 lands at FCC’s door

For those looking for some CDMA action in combination with some cool TouchFLO wizardry, you might not have to wait long. HTC's NEON400, which looks to be the CDMA counterpart of the HTC Touch Dual, has come knockin' on FCC's door to undergo some pretty rigorous scrutiny before being let loose into the CDMA world. Except for the CDMA radio, nothing much looks to be changed on the inside with the same 400MHz processor, 2.6 inch touchscreen, 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and a microSD slot all running on Windows Mobile 6.1. Let's hope it comes out unscathed and ready to roll!

led alarm blocks deconstruct the time

Looking for something a little different to set on your bedside table? This new alarm clock tears apart the hours, minutes and seconds and places them on individual time-telling blocks.

LED Cube Alarm Clock by Seiji

Seiji’s LED block alarm clock are interconnected using ribbon cables with enough slack in them to let you stack them pretty much any way you like.

You can even arrange the blocks into a vertical configuration, instead of the more typical horizontal orientation.

Seiji LED Cube Alarm Clock

While they do seem a little derivative of Jonas Damon’s Open Edition LED clock, they’re just different enough to stand on their own. That said, I still prefer the less garish single color segmented LEDs on Damon’s original versus the red, white and blue dot matrix displays on these ones.

For the time being, you’ll have to admire these from afar anyway, as they’re currently only available in Japan.

Earbug insect earbuds from Brightonnet

Earbug insect earbuds from Brightonnet
No doubt some unlucky few have actually had bugs crawl into their ears. I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard stories. That’s got to drive you nuts just knowing something is wiggling around in there getting ready to eat your brain.

So why anyone would want to tempt fate by wearing these cutesy insect earbuds from Brightonnet is beyond me. The last thing you want to do is attract the real thing into your ear canal. Still, if you’re cool with that, they go on sale in Japan on July 14 and will cost about $ 12. Just don’t come freaking out to us. These would go great with the pigs earbuds.
