At last, Star Wars USB hubs

At last, Star Wars USB hubs
I choose neither the light or the dark side, instead preferring to the subtle arts of the Geek side. Which is why I love these Star Wars USB hubs. Best of all, no Jar-Jar or Ewoks. Just your favorite droid and your favorite Sith Lord. The details are super nice too.

Both feature four full-speed USB ports in front. We think R2’s head moves every 3 minutes and lights up, and both have sound effects from the movies so you can re-inact scenes as often as you like. They’re Japan only for now, but it’s only a matter of time. Oh yes, I will have one.

New iPhone software erases personal data securely

Asmita:

I guess a lot of people were plagued by the fact that the original iPhone did not securely erase user data even when the “Erase All Content and Settings” was selected. But that nightmare has now been remedied by the manufactures of the super popular phone and as many loyalists get ready to upgrade to the brand new iPhone 3G, Apple is also all set to introduce a new data erasing software for them. The iPhone 2.0 software uses a process similar to Leopard’s Secure Erase Trash feature to unlink data and overwrite it with random bits. It makes personal data impossible to recover. Of course the process also takes extra time, but since it effectively makes embarrassing bad hair day snaps and Britney Spears play lists disappear for good, I don’t think anyone will be complaining about it anytime soon.

Skin gun shoots Stem Cells to heal wounds

Skin gun shoots Stem Cells to heal wounds
It’s bound to be controversial, because the dreaded “Stem Cells” have been mentioned, but this gun could be a great life saver on the battlefield. Or if you get cut up battling aliens and the like. Or if you are a cutter like Amy Winehouse, you could spray it on everytime you leave the house.

The Armed Forces Institute for Regenerative Medicine has officially invested $250 million in the project. With the help of this gun, gaping wounds could heal in a matter of just hours, getting soldiers on their feet to fight again. It could save lives, money and time. It will be interesting to see what comes of this. Probably be applied to the face-lift industry somehow.

No more buzzing speakers: iPhone anti-interference shield

No more buzzing speakers: iPhone anti-interference shield
You probably know this already, but the iPhone and unshielded speakers don’t mix very well when they are close. It always ends in a buzzing noise. Well, one clever person came up with a solution that’s nothing more than a hand cut Red Bull can and double stick tape.

Of course it’s possible that it will hurt your reception, but it doesn’t seem to be that noticable. Red Bull is optional, any flavor drink would probably work. I think I would prefer a Mountain Dew or Dr. Pepper.

star wars usb hubs: the force is with your devices

These official R2-D2 and Darth Vader USB hubs from Japan’s Cube-Works are a must for any serious Star Wars fan with a computer. Whether you’re pro-Jedi or have a serious Sith streak, they’re the perfect desktop companion for connecting your USB gadgets.

Star Wars USB Hubs

Both R2 and Darth offer four full-speed USB ports on their front. Now my Japanese isn’t all that great, but it sounds like every 3 minutes, R2’s head moves and lights up, and both hubs play some appropriate sound effects from the house that Lucas built.

R2-D2 USB Hub

While I just love the details on the little droid, the minute I read that Vader’s eyeballs glow when connected to a powered USB port, I came over to the Dark Side for good.

Darth Vader USB Hub

For the moment, these hubs are available only in Japan, but it’s only a matter of time before these hubs find their way to the rest of the world via importers.

Star Wars USB Hubs

They should be hitting the streets of Tokyo in July at a price of ¥7,140 (appx. $66 USD) each. Post a comment if you happen to find a retailer!
