Monster ships new speakers for home theater crowd

Monster StreamLine 100 SpeakersFirst off, sorry about the photo - that backside shot is the only one we could find. It belongs to the center speaker of a new series of speakers Monster announced today called the StreamLine 100. Prices vary between $300 and $600, depending upon which speaker component you need.

Monster designed the StreamLine 100 speakers to be integrated into a home theater. In this series you have a pair of towers, one center and a subwoofer. All offer interchangeable side panels with five color options, depending upon the colors lying around your room or your desire to be neurotic and change them every other day.

Monster has made the subwoofer in this series THX certified so you can more precisely blow out your neighbors. Availability should be now.

rubber duckie gets remote control

Who says you can’t take your electronic gadgets in the bathtub with you? The latest in rubber duckie technology lets you steer your fine feathered friend around the tub from afar.

Rubber Duckie Remote Controlled

Using a wireless RF transmitter, you can make the yellow aquatic bird tool around as you splish-splash in your bath. A pair of motorized propellers moves the little guy through the water, and let you steer duckie to the left, right, forwards or backwards. A quick 5-minute charge will give you about 15-minutes of bathtime fun. And yes, both the duck and controller are waterproof, so there’s no worries about electrocuting yourself.

The R/C Rubber Duck is available from I Want One of Those for £14.99 (appx. $26.98 USD). Quack.

Panasonic intro’s the Lumix TZ50, an upgraded Lumix TZ5 with Wi-Fi

Section: Imaging, Digital Cameras

Panasonic Lumix TZ50 digital camera

Panasonic has announced the Lumix TZ50, a Wi-Fi enabled digital camera that looks and performs like the previously released Lumix TZ5. The 10x optical zoom, the 3-inch LCD and the appearance of the Lumix TZ50 are reminiscent of the older Lumix TZ5. But that’s not saying that the Lumix TZ50 has nothing better to offer. The Lumix TZ50 is a powerful digital camera in itself besides having built-in Wi-Fi 802.11b/g.

With Wi-Fi capability the Lumix TZ50 will allow users to upload photos directly from their digital camera to the web for storing and sharing. But since, the Lumix TZ50 is currently available only in Japan, uploading site is limited to Panasonic’s Lumix Club site. Perhaps when, or if the TZ50 is released officially in the US, users will have more options for uploading photos, it is speculated that this will include Google’s Picasa, but we can also hope for Flickr.

Aside from the Wi-Fi connectivity, the Lumix TZ50 also features a 28mm ELMAR Leica wide angle lens, bright 3-inch LCD with intelligent LCD function, 10.7-megapixel 1/2.5-inch CCD, high ISO sensitivity from 100-6400, various shooting modes, PictBridge compatibility, 50MB of internal memory and a memory card slot that supports SD, SDHC and Multimedia Card.

The Panasonic Lumix TX50 will be available in the Japanese market by May 18, 2008 with a price tag of ¥49,800 (around $500 US).

Bluetouch Car Kit: Safest Way to Talk and Drive

Bluetouch%20Car%20Kit.jpgIf you're the kind who's always harried each morning as you drive to work, phone in one hand, comb at the other (what's holding the steering wheel?), the Bluetouch car kit is something you'd want to consider getting. It's a hands-free system which lets you listen to music or talk on the phone while driving. Controlling the car kit is as easy as tap-tapping on the bright touch screen interface. If touch screens aren't your thing, you can also control it via its voice-recognition feature. All you need to do is connect your mobile phone/PDA/other devices to it via Bluetooth. Bluetouch Car Kit costs US$399, which is admittedly quite expensive. But then again, better safe than sorry, right?
