Opel’s E-Flex Concept vehicle packs and charges a pair of Segways

Filed under:

Yeah, you read that right. What better way to deck out your plug-in hybrid concept mini-mini-van but to include charging bays for a product that flopped three years ago? That seems to be Opel’s strategy with the new E-Flex, which runs on diesel, plugs into a wall, and wastes immense amounts of space toting around and charging a pair of Segways in back. Sheer idiocy — so why do we want one so badly?

[Thanks, Brian]

Microsoft bringing Internet TV feature to Windows Media Center

During our chat with Microsoft today, we got wind of a brand new feature coming to Windows Media Center, and it’s slated to hit just as D-Link and Linksys get official with their Media Center Extenders. Reportedly, Microsoft plans on unleashing Internet TV on or around September 27th, which will enable Media Center users to watch a variety of on-demand, ad-supported content free of charge. While details were kept slim, we do know that content will fall into Sports, Entertainment, News, Top Picks, Music and Movies categories. Additionally, the videos will reportedly be “better than SD quality, but not HD,” although HD programs could certainly emerge in the future. Best of all, this feature will simply be delivered as a normal software update, and while it seems that we’ll have to wait until Digital Life before we know any more, feel free to peep the gallery below for a few shots of the Internet TV beta in action.

TeleSpy Motion Detecting Dialer

TeleSpy Intrusion Detector dials a phone number when it senses motionTalk about your sneaky spy gadgets… The TeleSpy Intrusion Detector looks like a standard home telephone when in reality its a motion detector, microphone and secret dialer all in one.

This unassuming phone has a built in infrared motion sensor that’s able to cover 45 degrees at the direction it’s aiming in a room, waiting for any movement. When motion is sensed the TeleSpy will call up a single, pre-programmed number and then turn on the microphone for whoever answers to listen to what’s going on. The TeleSpy phone stays connected for 30 seconds and then hangs up and re-arms itself waiting for the next movement. (more…)
