Verizon Wireless Coupe Mobile Phone

Verizon Wireless Coupe

Verizon announced its latest addition, the Verizon Wireless Coupe. A basic phone that is designed for what a phone was meant for in the first place - making calls - the Wireless Coupe has earned a Good Housekeeping seal, and even though lacking in many features, it is simple to use. The phone features a dedicated key for calls to 911, as well as programmable ICE (In Case of Emergency, I still love the industry’s acronyms) numbers.

The Verizon Wireless Coupe’s pre-installed tools include a tip calculator, alarm clock, calendar and world clock. Measuring 3.8" x 1.8" x 0.8", the phone weighs 3.3 ounces and has a nice large font-sized display. It also features a convenient-to-use voice dialing feature allowing you to call contacts using their names or numbers.

You can’t get any more entry-level than this. Priced at US $19.99 with a new 2-year agreement, the Verizon Wireless Coupe is now available.

Mtron kicks out 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB SSD drives

Filed under:

It’s one thing to toot your own horn, but it looks like Mtron has gone a bit overboard with this one. Apparently, the company firmly believes that its new SSD lineup is faster than anything similar on the planet, but in all honestly, it’s not. Nevertheless, the firm is hyping up its new 16GB, 32GB and 64GB solid state discs, claiming that the read speed of 120MB/s and write speed of 90MB/s trumps that of “other SSD” drives. ‘Course, it must not be counting those SLC NAND flash-based iterations (like the Simpletech ZeusIOPS) as true competitors, and until we see unbiased benchmarks to prove these claims, we’re ain’t buyin’.

Sony Ericsson President Steps Down

180px-Sony_Ericsson_logo.svg.pngSony Ericsson president Miles Flint has stepped down after three years of fairly successful leadership. This news has had analysts baffled and confused about the decision. Many has speculated that in no way was flint forced out of his office but still wonders what could have prompted his decision.

Under his command, Sony Ericsson has seen consistent profitability and a steady increase in its market share. The former president said that he’s looking to expand his horizons after 17 years under the Sony and Sony Ericsson brands, while Sony Electronics USA chairman Hideki Komiyama has been tapped to fill the huge shoes left behind.

Analysts seem pretty convinced that he’ll have a tough time doing any better than his predecessor, noting that low-end handsets seem like the next logical step to market share dominance despite the segment’s virtually nonexistent margins.
