There’s been no shortage of news surrounding Toyota and its hybrid plans of late, so it makes perfect sense to hear that the automaker may be on the verge of inking a deal to “develop recharging points for plug-in hybrid electric cars.” Reportedly, Toyota and Electricite de France are set to “announce a deal next week to develop electricity infrastructure for the plug-in cars Toyota plans to launch in a few years.” Notably, the agreement is only expected to cover France initially, but neighboring countries could be pursued shortly thereafter.

At first glance this noisy little car powered by USB doesn’t seem that interesting, but much to our surprise it’s actually kind of cool. The USB RC Car is an actual radio controlled car that gives about 5 minutes of remote controlled drive time with a 10 minute charge.
The car comes with a small garage complete with a door that closes which houses the car when it’s not in use and also acts as the charger and the wireless transmitter. The garage connects to a Windows XP or 2000 computer through a 4 foot USB cable and transmits 6-way directional signals from an on-screen graphical interface that’s controlled with the keyboard. If you’ve been hankering for a way to void your UMPC warranty, or just want to add a touch more utility while getting down and dirty with a soldering iron, this here hack may be the one that fits the bill. Facing the daunting task of shoving an internal USB hub into the already cramped confines of a TabletKiosk eo, thoughtfix managed to not only burn his fingers, add a few ventilation holes, and sharpen those wiring skills, but he also stuffed a three-port USB hub within his UMPC. Apparently, the internal WiFi / Bluetooth module’s USB interface can be tapped into to provide a way for a hub to be installed, and while two of the three ports remain open, a 2GB Sony Micro Vault Tiny was plugged into one connector for ReadyBoost usage. ‘Course, the actual process of rigging this up is far too complicated for this space, but if you’re feelin’ froggy, jump on down and give the read link a bit of your time.

For those of you who happen to like Microsoft’s Zune, you’ll be jumping with joy to know that it can display Chinese and Korean letters!
This hack was made possible by the people at Zune Boards, and here’s how they did it. Basically, they had to dissemble the Zune to gain access into the System Partition and then once in, they had to add a new system font part into it. They are still looking for ways to get into the System Partition without dissembling it, so stay tuned. Also, Zune Boards said that they are currently working on another hack that they claim we will all enjoy, so stay tuned our Zune fans!

There’s blatant knockoffs, and then there’s blatant knockoffs. As you can probably tell, this is most certainly a case of the latter, as the so-called creators of the MA-727 didn’t even bother to take their own photo. Instead, it looks pretty clear that they simply doctored Samsung’s own snapshot of the T9B, threw a pink miniSD card down beneath, and called it original. Sure, it can supposedly handle just about every format under the sun and touts a 2.4-inch display, built-in speaker, FM tuner, voice recorder, rechargeable Li-ion, and anywhere between 128MB and 2GB of internal storage, but we wouldn’t recommend pulling the trigger on this one unless you’ve got more money than sense.

The BT Baby Monitor 150 is set up with some advanced features not typically found in a standard monitor that actually seem fairly practical.
For starters the 150 is able to connect to your MP3 player and play back Hi-DS music, so you can download your infants favorite songs and play them through the monitor. Owners can also record their voice into the baby’s unit to play back at a later time giving the baby the familiar sound of your voice without having to get out of bed. If you do end up waking up the parent unit has a “talk back” feature that basically turns the monitor into a two-way radio, letting you talk to the monitor from the remote unit. (more…)

Before we tell you about the TomTom GO 720, let us impart one piece of advice which we’re pretty sure most GPS enthusiasts know already: if you’re going through the Lincoln Tunnel into Midtown Manhattan late at night with your GPS fired up and ready for action, make sure you know by heart what to do when you come out the other side — because GPS simply ain’t happening in New York City. That said, TomTom’s slickly designed and elegantly executed 720 is a seriously welcome addition to our navigational world, and frankly, we’ll be sad to see the little guy go.
